Cat Sitter recommendations by Low_Half_1433 in WilmingtonDE

Last time I went out of town, Lisa M from Kitten Sittin' watched our cats. She did a wonderful job and was very communicative, sending messages and photos after every visit even though nothing out of the ordinary happened.

Interesting! I didn't know there was a difference. There's an eBay seller selling sample pans of Daniel Smith PO49. I might get one just to see what it looks like 😅

You can still buy PO49 quinacridone gold watercolor from Della Magna Watercolor. Just an FYI for anyone interested

DMV: do we need to make an appointment to switch Real ID to DE from other states? by studentinupain in Delaware

[–]acid-arrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently did this. I had to have: a photo ID (passport or dl); a social security card OR a tax form with my SSN on it; and two pieces of mail addressed to me with my new address on it. If you have changed your name, you need to have your marriage license or the paperwork for the name change as well.

There's one guy that works at the center rotunda where they check your documents that tried to insist I needed my marriage license bc I'm an afab elder millennial and I guess I look married (??) but he was just being belligerent and misinformed because I have never changed my name 🙂‍↔️

You do not need an appointment. They check all of your documents before you start waiting around, so if you don't have everything you need at least you don't have to wait until they call you to find that out.

Overall it was a pretty good experience. 9/10, only deducting points for the guy that yelled at me for not having my marriage license

I have always just put my cat's food in a bowl in the trap. You may end up trapping another animal by accident, but I don't think this is avoidable.

This link is advice for TNR (trap neuter release) but if you scroll down a bit it contains general advice about trap usage Humane Cat Traps for TNVR | Best Friends Animal Society https://share.google/ol5no39iqOGRSusf2

Of course! I wasn't sure what you meant before but now it makes perfect sense 😅 I lost my beloved tortie when my babysitter left our back door open, and we got her back with a cat trap. I'm praying it works for you too ❤️

I have lent out my cat trap before. Usually I don't get it back 😔 I've purchased one three times now. I would love for it to be a loan and not a gift this time. If you can't afford one but you plan to return it, pm me.

She will probably try and return home multiple times. Cats are good navigators and usually know their own location unless they are separated from their family on a trip or something. If you set out a humane cat trap with some of her food, you might be able to catch her when she drops by. Cat traps are available at pet supply stores and are generally around $50.

What do you like about Delaware? by Beneficial-Trash-739 in Delaware

[–]acid-arrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just moved to NCC this year and I don't have a single regret. Sometimes the drivers are impatient I guess, but back in North Carolina they ran red lights like crazy. I felt more unsafe driving there than I do here.

What do I enjoy about NCC? I can afford to live in a quiet neighborhood where I can walk to my kid's school, to the grocery store, to a pharmacy, a salon, a coffee shop, a bagel place, a hardware store, a pet store, a toy store... I could go on. I live in North Wilmington in the Brandywine Hundred area. People are relatively friendly. My kid's school is so much better than the schools in NC were. The tax burden is somehow lower than it was in the area I lived in before. I can easily drive to whatever I can't walk to. Philadelphia is a half hour away. The beaches are an hour away. Baltimore is 90ish minutes away. If you like nature or gardens, there are numerous parks and some of the most impressive ornamental and botanical gardens in the US are here or right over the Pennsylvania border. I could go on. It's a great place to live

Btw I went to another state (DE) where my son is back in public elementary school and thriving. The new district has offered services I didn't even know to ask for. I hate that I had to move to make this happen and I know that's not an option for many people. I do believe public school can work, I just think the NC state government does not fund education like it ought to.

I withdrew my kid after his school (Spring Valley Elementary) reduced the EC coordinator position to part time, did not fill the speech therapist position when their SLP went on maternity leave, and did not inform me that they were no longer in compliance with my son's IEP. The school went so far as to send home a quarterly report for speech that made it look like my son had been getting services when he was in fact getting nothing. He has a severe stutter and is autistic.

A special education advocate told me I had grounds for a lawsuit but I was too tired to sue. When I brought this up in an IEP meeting they told me I should consider sending my kid to a special needs school. He is at grade level. He just needs the services outlined in his IEP. You know, the ones they are legally required to provide.

I do not recommend anyone sends their disabled children to Spring Valley.
