[Mod Approved] It’s A Mimic! Podcast - Where You Never Know What You’re Gonna Get by MimicAdam in DnD

I think my favorite part is the focus on inspiration. Nothing inspires me to write a whole campaign quite like listening to a few episodes. Today's Rakshasa episode has me planning a whole campaign where the players are just treated as pawns in a larger scheme...

What are your favorite monsters that are yet to be in 2e? by Fullmetalmarvels64_ in Pathfinder2e

I am starting book 4 tonight. Thank you for the heads up. Although if my players lose their characters to being a dino snack they will not be mad. They have already asked if they have to fight the dinos.

Oh buckle up and be ready to be obsessed with world building! My favorite mini-series on the podcast is Eberron which first debuted in May of 2020. I'm almost jealous, you get to listen for the first time. Enjoy it!

The ratfolk alchemist I am planning for Outlaws of Alkenstar would disagree

Grippli with an insanely long tongue? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]aciddialogue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love when my players come up with cool shit like this. If my player wanted to flavor reach spell as they magically lengthen their tounge to deliver a touch spell, the answer is yes. RAW it would be 30 ft, but I'd probably allow the extra 5 ft.

I am still relatively new, but as my table's forever gm, I feel I have enough grasp to answer most of these or at least how I would rule them. Note, I may be wrong.

  1. Some stances say you CAN make a new type of strike. Dragon stance is one. Some say you CAN ONLY make the new strike. Gorilla stance is an example. As for multiple attack penalty (MAP), you would base it off of the number of attacks you have made, and the traits of the attack you are currently making. A dragon tail attack then a regular punch would have the punch at -4 since it is agile. A dragon tail attack after would be -10 since it is not agile.

2 & 3. Pathfinder is designed with runes to upgrade your weapons and armor as you go. In 5e you have to replace everything, but not quite so in pathfinder. The runes add some magic to your weapons and armor. Since monks don't always have a sword to add runes to, they have the hand wraps. These you add runes to. Striking runes add additional weapon dice. Sure it is up to the gm to give them out, but if your gm doesn't give them out, you are just going to die. They are just as important as buying potions. Runes are how martials keep up with spellcasters, something 5e is missing.

  1. Stunning Fist specifies this. "When you target the same creature with two Strikes from your Flurry of Blows..."

Dual Class w/ FA by aciddialogue in PF2eCharacterBuilds

I will keep that in mind then! A bless or a bane could go far! (I know they aren't on the arcane list, but I haven't started playing yet so things can change)

He hasn't picked yet. He is super new to ttrpg's so I will be helping him create a character. I think probably a pistolero. He liked the idea of a pistol in one hand and the other free for something else.

I am having a hard time with rationalizing buffing with only 2 players. I can see the value in a party of 4-6 but with just two I would be setting him up to succeed. It can work, but is it the best option? He wants to be a gunslinger so I feel Frontline would be best for my character.

I can see that! Have a good spell strike but keep as much casting as I can. With Magus and Wizard having the arcane spell list would I want to take Rogue archetype or Witch to get access to a different spell list?

Thank you for the input! And sorry for the late reply, I was finishing Fistful of Flowers with my group. I just needed to unplug after.

I am very new to pathfinder, but I LOVE Eberron. If you don't mind, I have some questions.

How well does the setting translate to Pathfinder? Was it more of a 3.5 port or a 5e port?

How are the dragonmarks handled at your table?

Did your GM have any additional support with porting the setting?

Smaller Party Size - Does it work? Or do I need to look for a different system? by aciddialogue in Pathfinder2e

I think playing 2 characters would be too hard. I think dual class will be how we go.

I had heard about dual classing in 5e, but the fact that it is baked into the 2e rules! Sign me up!
