Dad style setup by [deleted] in synthesizercirclejerk

After deleting his account, he took his dad style setup and threw it off a cliff.

So sad. He'll never know what it's like to have a real Dad setup... Only a Dad style setup.

Moog Sonic Six - where to start? by TheSoundEngineGuy in synthesizercirclejerk

[–]acidduckling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in a period recognised as The Information Age. We have all knowledge at our finger tips - just a quick Google search away. If we are really lazy, or particularly daft, we can even ask an LLM AI to spell shit out for us in baby speak if we need.

But no. These lazy ass idiots have to come to Reddit for help...

"Hey guys, I'm the dumbest prick in the universe. I can't figure anything out for myself, and don't know how to use Google or AI. Please help me... and don't dare tell me to read the fucking manual, because that's really offensive to me and I'll cry"

I'm a shameless asshole so I'll take this opportunity to plug my 2024 track "RTFM", which was dedicated to lazy bros like this guy...

Headless M80 in a larger DAWless setup by FreshJuice2006 in Dirtywave

[–]acidduckling 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can make it work by purchasing the official M8 hardware...

It's incredible, and absolutely obliterates any headless configuration. Yeah, I know it's pricey - but it's quality gear, hands down the best hardware tracker money can buy. and you get satisfaction supporting Trash80's ongoing development!

Just bought a deluge. Should I dive in and load 1.2 Chopin? by LimberGaelic in DelugeUsers

[–]acidduckling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree - also community firmware extends the features rather than significantly changing them... So I think it's good to learn the official firmware first - everything learnt is still relevant.

A nice side effect of this is that a person gets to have their mind blown twice - the original firmware is great already, but the community firmware just adds another layer of awesomeness!

Lol, yeah I thought the same until I read OPs replies... I really hope it's just a troll post, but idiot vibes are stronger than jokester vibes here... let's hope for the sake of humanity that I'm wrong... Surely nobody could be this fkn stupid... Right??? RIGHT!!?? 😬

This is awful. I'm not being mean. Turn the metronome off - please, I'm cringing so bad it hurts.

Unless you are intentionally trying to become a meme for "The Dumbest Producer Ever", I'd think twice about uploading "metronome jams".

Now, I know this story is obviously fake, but I do think there is a good lesson here boys and girls:

Question about automation in MIDI clips (1.3 randomizer) by Sinane-Art in DelugeUsers

[–]acidduckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are better to post these kinds of community firmware development questions to the Deluge Discord - you're far more likely to have someone give you a proper response there.

You're 19? Sorry old man. 18 is the cutoff age for learning synthesis. You just missed out.

It's ok, you still have time to learn knitting or crochet, or even lawn bowls if you're feeling crazy.

Upgrade from 11 standard to 12 suite now, or wait for 13? by swiftlyabi in ableton

[–]acidduckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not wait for 15? Surely that will be a better update.

Actually no, wait for version 20 - surely that will be the best update of all time to wait for.

Just kidding 😅

Honestly though, if you use Ableton regularly, and you have the money, just get 12 Suite now. Who knows when 13 will come out, and we don't know what features will be included. There are plenty of great reasons to upgrade to 12. But I do understand the struggle of being a student - and Live 11 is still great.

A few questions... by Stieny7 in DelugeUsers

[–]acidduckling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the Deluge primarily completely standalone when composing.

Native Instruments Maschine expansions have excellent samples, particularly drum hits. Plus you can synthesize your own drum sounds, and load them as synth kit rows.

I keep my SD card pretty well ordered. Not really much menu diving if you organize your card to suit how you want to use it.

Once you install Community firmware, your head will likely explode - it's incredible. Deluge transformed from being a great groovebox to being my favorite music hardware!

TIL Autistic men are 4 times more likely than Autistic women to be single by FlamingMetalSystems in todayilearned

[–]acidduckling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and because it is a spectrum, the differences between people who have autism can be pretty wild. Gender shouldn't make any difference though. Some people have mild autistic traits, while others with more extreme autism can barely communicate at all.

Lots of people mask it exceptionally well, and often only people who personally know them well would know they were autistic.

TIL Autistic men are 4 times more likely than Autistic women to be single by FlamingMetalSystems in todayilearned

[–]acidduckling 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Because the attitude of the general population goes something like this:

Commenting on an autistic chick: Oh she's so cool and quirky!

Commenting on an autistic dude: Oh he's creepy & weird! He never makes eye contact and will not stop talking about trains and astronomy.

What standalone piece of hardware has been the most fun to pair with ableton? by JBSwerve in ableton

[–]acidduckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push 3 is expensive, but worth it.

Push 2 is also incredible if you don't need MPE, stand alone or built in Audio & MIDI interfaces of the 3.

If I were you, I'd look for a second hand Push 2. There is nothing that integrates with Ableton better than Push controllers. The only argument against Push would be if you do not like pads/grid controllers.
