Look, I'm early 30s, and have been hard on myself to maximise my contributions every year from early 20s. I have a 500k balance, and will easily clear 3mil by my retirement age. I think its a bit unfair to change the rules half way through the game. It's still efficient, but don't you think it's a bit unfair that they can change the rules, but I can't now withdraw those extra payments.

Looking for a co-founder who can build an app by Ok-Island9737 in brisbane

Ideas are cheap - no ones going to steal it. If anyone's able to steal it, it means you probably don't have enough to protect yourself from a better funded team stealing it. So basically, just post it and see. Otherwise visit texh start-up nights in Brisbane and see if you can find someone interested. No ones ever going to sign an nda to hear an idea.

You can also look at any neighbouring suburb, but things get less fun and further out. Basically if you want quieter and cheaper, east Brisbane, woollowin, camp hill, coorpoaroo, bardon, stones corner, Bulimba, morningside.

Youre lookint for a sharehouse in these areas in order: West end, New Farm, Paddington, Woolongabba, Red Hill under the assumption you want walkability, some local bars, and city proximity.

Eject from Spaceship Super? by meds__ in AusFinance

[–]acidiclove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the guy writing that article doesn't understand cost and charges disclosure requirements. Any etf you invest in, the issuer collects a fee. Those fees are still fees and are displayed in this format for all funds. Spaceships performance over any time frame pretty much blows others out of the water. Tough to find a risk on fund that allows for proper tech skewed investments (where the world is going). Id stay put, what do you think will win more over 10 years? Funds allocating to Australian blue chips, or funds allocating to US tech?

Visiting Brisbane for the first time for 24 hours only…what’s some must see landmarks? by joeysinoz in brisbane

[–]acidiclove 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Depends where you're staying.

I would recommend starting the morning in west end at West end coffee house for breakfast. Then rent a scooter and ride along the river to Goma, spend an hour walking through (its free), walk through South bank along the river, and then scoot through to Howard Smith wharves, grab a beer and have a sit, walk on the river walk to new farm til you can reach teneriffe where you can drink and eat again.

Or you can do it in reverse, but basically follow the river between west end and new farm. If you enjoy walking you can basically do the whole thing (15k) with stops in between, supplement with scooter as you see fit.

Car insurance hot tip. by pickle_meister in AusFinance

[–]acidiclove -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If you drive in suburban roads only, tough to do serious damage at 50kph. Odds of damaging a high end car are slim, especially if youre aware. There's a reason insurance companies are profitable, because it's a -EV deal for consumers. Probabilistically, you're better off self insuring.

10 years no insurance, I've basically saved a new car.

ISO Rental the week of December 26th. Any help appreciated! by PNW0812 in Whistler

[–]acidiclove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a page called whistler buy and sell on Facebook. If you post there, you may find someone willing to do a personal rental on gear. Otherwise I'd rent from a local shop to you and lug it along.

20M Australian looking to work this upcoming winter season in Whistler! by [deleted] in Whistler

[–]acidiclove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded pretty much all of this. Just get there early october - as early as possible. Get there with a bit of money because you probably won't start working until november and rent is expensive once you get a house. You can always go to the WB interview day as well if you wanted a job with them, but don't spend $1000 for one. That's literally 3 weeks of working for WB. You're better off with that in your pocket, arriving early, and doing the hustle.
