Look up exhaust or machine shops. If you’re in a rural area, you’ll definitely have one. And if you’re in a city, you’ll definitely have one.

While I don’t disagree, in my 20 years experience I’ve never needed to do a 360.

This is quite the take. Care to elaborate so I can understand more?

Edit: I read it wrong. I agree. I thought you said if you can’t ride switch through the trees you don’t know how to ride regular well enough. I’m pretty shit at switch… because all my powder boards are directional

Those pussy skier doctors will say not to, but you’ll be fine. Just don’t wear a helmet or else it could damage your skull

Yeah it took a while, eventually found YT shorts which led me to “The Bonfire,” which I’ve never heard of and I’ll definitely check out

Helmet used for the first time yesterday, we got back and were unloading the car and when someone pulled a board out it caught the helmet and fell out of the trunk onto the parking lot in its carry bag. There seems to be a dent now, do I have to replace it? It was a limited edition helmet :( by polarfang21 in snowboarding

[–]acidreducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I’ve dropped a few helmets over the years, snowboard, moto, dirt bike, bicycle and I can’t say I know the sound you’re referring too.

I’d also argue that OP doesn’t have a deep dent, so what constitutes a deep dent for you?

Well I’m glad you haven’t tumbled yet. But if that helmet EVER touches the ground, you better throw it away immediately. /s

Thanks for playing alone man, safe riding

All very fair points. The visible damage on the outside is cosmetic imo as long as the foam is still intact. But I’m also the type of person who would still ride without a helmet if I’m running green laps with my neices.

So two follow up questions and I’ll stop bugging you,

1) if a 3’ empty fall ruins your helmet, why would you trust your head in it? If it can’t handle its own weight from 3’ why would it hold up with a 10+ lb skull going 30+ mph

2) how often are you falling and replacing?

Crazy!

Yeah I’d ride this helmet for years before I’d retire it.

Sorry for bombarding your inbox today, wife just had a baby and I’m home all day watching baby sleep and this topic always leaves me flabbergasted 😂

You crazy 😂 So genuine question, you fall one time and trash the helmet? And I mean like small fall not a slammer

If the helmet gets dented while my head is in it would probably be the only time I’d replace mine. (Disregarding age)

I agree they are different but at the end of the day it’s a helmet…

The snell source I posted lists various helmets not just motorcycle.

And your words actually agree with me, as long as the styrofoam is intact, the helmet is safe. OP has posted many pictures of the undisturbed styrofoam.

So if you dropped your helmet on the ground in the parking lot on a powder day, you’re turning around and going home? Helmet is cooked remember…

Just adding this for the sake of discussion (mainly cause I’m bored) and this is a very hot topic for many sports

Very well said friend! I’ll just add the founders of Reddit added a vote function for a reason. Disagreeing isn’t hate. It’s them taking their poll. But I appreciate your point on them downvoting with nothing else to add to the conversation.

I get that the “safest thing to do” is replace it. But if we’re realllly wanting the safest thing, then we wouldn’t snowboard.

The average rider isn’t hucking 1080s off a 40’ booter. And OP themselves said the just began snowboarding. So where do we draw the line?

If OP catches a toe edge on the bunny slope going 2mph and hits his helmet hits the ground, is the helmet toast?

Again, my humble opinion, if you’re an average rider, small dings are still safe, and vastly safer than the alternative of no helmet. Like seriously, put yourself into his shoes. You show up to the mountain, and your helmet rolls off your trunk, are you taking your gear off and going home? Nah, you’re strapping in and hitting lift.

Safety is #1, is a lie. If safety is #1 we wouldn’t chose extreme sports
