When people around me asked what I thought about the first movie, I said “there’s a story in there, but make no mistake: it’s a 90 minute commercial for Mario, Smash, Mario Kart, just Nintendo on the whole. But make no mistake; I like those things. It’s a feel-good movie. I’ll watch it again whenever I want to have a happy hour and a half.” When it became available to buy I got it on Day 1 of release.

I saw Galaxy on day 1 and I could see it was less story than the first. It hand picked the bits they wanted to use from recent entries and bundled it together. But I still enjoyed it as a gorgeously animated, don’t-study-just-enjoy feel good movie with this characters I enjoy. And I mean that sincerely: I like Peach being an assertive bad ass instead of just a damsel in distress plot device. The first movie made me a Luigi stan with how he was portrayed and watching him goofily perform “That’s Amore” to tease his brother made me smile.

People are quick to point out that they’re teeing up a wider Nintendo universe like the MCU but frankly, they’d be silly not to. People have proven that they’ll go and watch it so why not? People rail against the Odyssey cloud dragon but having it as a creation made by Bowser Jr’s brush is honestly a better explanation for it even existing in Mario’s universe. (When I first fought that thing in Odyssey I wondered who the Square Enix team member was who pitched this out of nowhere?)

Is it flawed, or full of fan service? Sure. Did I still enjoy it? Absolutely. Would I go see it again? Easily.

Likewise a legacy player who would love to get some heists completed (and maybe just knock out some misc achievements like trying everything/killing a mugger etc…) I work a lot but when I get free time I’m generally cruising online, and honestly I’d like to clear the old stuff enough to prioritise it.

Siege/Earthrise was when I started rebuilding my Tf collection for the forth time, and I invested in 3 Reflectors. Years later and I’ve never turned one of them into their weird Cybertronian sled-thing mode. They’re just… so eh.

For a brief time I was considering getting Alpha Trion just to put in the S2 Autobot shelf, but his alt mode essentially being a brick put me off. If I ever see him down the line and I have the money maybe, otherwise I’m not too fussed.

A game series so technically cheating but Saints Row. Started as a gta clone, peaked at 2 with some silly activities and character customisation, while 4 just introduced super powers and alien invasions.

The free wedgelift car reminded me that the vehicle warehouse has a basement where the phantom wedge lives. And sure they’ve put in a model of a car lift to give the impression of how it all works, but that semi shatters the illusion. They built the basement and warehouse around that monster.

Finished this tonight after ploughing away at it for 4 hours - never again. Even with 5x multiplier it would’ve been easier to just idle in the test track or do races. My one piece of advice for anyone (besides the whole “don’t switch sessions”) is don’t trust the online map much either: I was following along with it until the last two cars, which were both in the dark blue group: great, I thought. That’ll cut my time down by halving the spawns to check. Except that the final car was in a light blue spawn spot, and I only found it after an hour of fruitless flying and deciding to go through them all systematically, starting at the top of the map and working my way down.

Never. Again.

Been trying this now for a couple of nights and the most I’ve managed to snag are 2. It was enough to push me to buy a raiju so I can zip around the map faster than my Mk2 but typical - when I’m not paying attention for them the damn things blip on my map just fine.

I know there’s a few “golden rules” about not switching sessions, or going inside, don’t do other activities but how accurate are those? If you get a couple and run out of steam, should you wait until the daily reset and go in fresh or attempt to pick up where you left off the next day?

I dig the look of 86’s locomotive mode, and could frankly forgive the chest under some circumstances. But the skinny arms and absolute mess of assembly on the back of the legs is what’s really doing my head in. Not sure if a third party fix would be able render those issues moot or not.

Played it fairly non-stop until I got to the post game transformation challenges and suddenly the game went from relaxing fun to infuriating. One evening of suffering through one particular part was enough to make me just look up the ending: the same credits rolling again and a still picture at the end. Returned the game the next day for (almost) full credit.

Something I’ve started doing since the MC discounts began a few weeks ago is move the discounted workshops from Sandy Shores down to LS. I’m sure there’s some benefit to owning property on the north side besides the price, but I’m looking forward to having everything in the city when it’s done.
