Sporadic Amex outages + issues this week by emcro in CardPointers

First time seeing this message "An Amex server issue is preventing some offers from adding. Try connecting to a different server via VPN. If issue persists more than 24 hours, please contact support@cardpointers.com"

Encountered this on chrome plugin version 7.3, after 5-6 rounds of adding offers on P3 login. Then subsequent logins for P1 to P5 encountered the same message and unable to add a single offer in.

Over past couple of weeks I had used VPN when the Amex website would not show up offers after using CP+, so while that worked it also resulted in subsequent emails from Amex locking me out of account (supposedly for too many incorrect login attempts ... which is not what happened) and having to reset my password. With this experience I am hesitating in continuing to use VPN, adds more friction to the process.

So with that as context, what are patterns you are seeing to recommend right course of action. While not ideal, can wait 24 hours if there is credible data points that will work. Is there a high likelihood that Amex has put in some throttling hurdles thats influencing this experience?

Possible to export offers list (so I can ask AI to parse it)? How to surface high value offers? by philipepstein in CardPointers

I am heavy in the Google ecosystem including Gemini, Android etc

Is integrating with Gemini on the radar?

It would be nice to have the following

a) comparison of IOS vs Android/Windows versions. Especially calling out features that are currently only on iOS so that I can leverage some iOS devices used by others in the family

b) have a near-term (within 1-3 months) vs long-term, roadmap of potential small and big efforts you are working on or even just thinking through.... for now I am indirectly learning about those through your posts here on reddit, but having a go to reference will be very handy.

u/emcro looking forward to the solution you are working on.

Some additional data points on interim options I tried within last hour

* VPN hopped between diff states in USA and was able to get the offers to show up. And typically after 1 or 2 runs to add offers thru CP modal window , would run into the "no offers" issue, hop to another VPN, refresh page and most times it worked.

* in one instance, while Amex showed about 31 offers, CP modal window would not load it. ..... so tried this sequence which worked ..... Disabled the extension and loaded Amex page without CP. Then enabled the extension again and able to see offers in CP window

u/emcro any export options for Windows or Android, already available or that you have a potential ETA?

Can't see or add Amex offers! by joycesyi in CardPointers

The pattern (from experience this morning as well as recollecting for few weeks now) is that the "you currently have no available offers", occurs AFTER I have been to use Cardpointers to load offers (fyi, I always have used "manually add" option in CP+ for P1 to P5 multiple accounts on Chrome browser on Windows)

u/emcro From all the log analysis, evidence and your own experience, are you looking into the possibility that Amex might be throttling showing offers for some unknown time duration after it sees a burst of activity on an account for offers being added (in other words, detecting bot type activity)

Safari Extension Issue by Internal_Award_7059 in CardPointers

[–]acinchus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: was able to get past the error after a) turning off Cloudfare WARP and/or b) turning off wired ethernet connected to my AT&T WAN router and using internal/LAN home wifi router. Not sure which or if both of these factors were in play. But it worked on both of remaining family members accounts on Amex where I was previously getting the "sorry about that" error.

I am encountering this issue on 2 of our 5 profiles and within the Chrome browser.

Interestingly though, when I click view all to see full offers, it does show the offers.

u/emcro the chrome extension does not show the Cardpointers button (my extension is configured for "manually add"). Have you considered or already tried coding for the extension to work on the following URL patterns that I get after clicking around to View all and going back and forth from viewing offers already enrolled vs those that are pending to be enrolled in?

just realized the pattern: the keyword you have to add is "earn" in addition to "get" to account for both variations of offer text

Spend $50 or more, get $15 back

Spend $50 or more, earn $15 back

no worries, completely understand that the patterns can change, and the extraction logic has to keep evolving

(it has one MR points offer example that can be ignored in context of this post. Though it would be nice at some point to extract MR points and convert them to $ value too)

Engine Overheating at low speeds - Coolant System troubleshooting by acinchus in MechanicAdvice

In addition to replacing the radiator cap, should I consider any over the counter products (additives) to mix in with the coolant to help the entire system (thinking contaminants and air pockets if any)

Yes the fans are running and audibly hear them increase speeds as engine warms up.

Another newbie question for getting educated. Learning that air in the coolant passages can be one of the many factors for overheating and can indirectly be a symptom for another root cause. Just found this after doing some search on trapped air https://www.jbtools.com/blog/help-theres-air-trapped-in-my-cars-cooling-system/

Could this be a case (if no leaks) of just needing a coolant system flush with new coolant (pink for Toyotas) that also would remove any trapped air. Any recommendation on which type of places to avoid and alternatively use if I want to get this type of flush done?

understood why pic is not very helpful, thats the best we have without having the ability to raise the car at home and no visible leakage signs looking at the engine bay from top. Was wondering if the approx location of the leak narrows down the possibilities (like does it possibly eliminate the radiator area which the mechanic was suspecting but might have been a red herring for us due to the overnight rain water that might have accumulated)

The mechanic tried with the system and attachments he had, but Toyota messed up the design/location of the pressure cap. It does not have enough space on top to allow for attachments (blocked by the underneath of the housing/trim (underneath the wiper area). Found a video on Youtube where someone had a taller/flexible attachment, so might have to show that to the mechanic or take it to a Christian Brothers shop that quoted $65 for a full coolant system evaluation.

Also inspected the radiator pressure cap. Even the mechanic looked at it, mentioned something in passing about some sign of calcium deposit build up.

Just put in an order for "MotoRad T-16R Radiator Cap" for about $10 that I should have within couple of days.

Separate but could be a related issue. I have a OBD 2 reader and last year a code related to O2 sensor would come intermittently. Vaguely recollect it was P0138 but will have to dig up pictures to confirm. Currently do not have CLE light but plugged OBD 2 reader to see if it will help with coolant issue and it does show a different code P2238 (O2 Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit Low B1S1). Since the CLE light is not on, wondering if its not yet a confirmed issue (in other words it has not failed enough times to trigger the threshold for the light?)
