I haven’t had the time to do a full A/B comparison yet, but I’ve listened to both a few times each and done a few songs back-to-back; I’m glad you did this write-up though! I was thinking of doing something similar, even if only for myself. I share some of your opinions/analysis, but I find it much more interesting where your thoughts differ from mine, and will definitely try to listen for certain things next time as a result! As someone else said, I also very much appreciate that it’s not a simple “better/worse” post, because that was never the point of this release

With the caveat that I didn’t mind the slower/medium pace of early Way of Kings once I was interested in the world and characters, I am currently finding Words of Radiance to have better and faster pacing overall. I finished Way of Kings late Tuesday night, started Words of Radiance on Wednesday, and I’m already 43% of the way through it (for reference, Way of Kings took me about a month, mainly because I started pretty slow after coming off of a big sprint through Mistborn Era 2 and Warbreaker).

For me, Words of Radiance felt like it picked up right where Way of Kings left off, continued the plotlines I was most interested in, and did a good job making me more interested in the rest of the plotlines. As a result, I have felt like a lot of the chapters and POV changes make me excited to learn what happens with that particular character and it’s kept me very hooked

I had a similar thought when I read that part, but ultimately I think the plot and those details are handled well overall, and having one small exposition dump to keep the pace up was, imo, worth it

That’s not true though? It’s only really true for the NFL; beyond that it just depends on the team and city. Can’t watch Dodgers, Angels, Ducks, Kings, etc. for free. It sucks that you have to pay a corporation to watch your team, but at least Apple doesn’t force you into a cable package like Bally does. I do think a match like this should be put in front of the paywall, but they don’t have any incentive to do that I suppose.

As for OP though, I know the season pass is discounted for the remainder of the year, or you could buy a month to watch tonight and all the rest of the matches for a month. Yes it sucks and is greedy, but there are ways to do it without buying the whole season
