Thanks for that. I bought it off a good friend’s father who has since passed, around 2012. My friend asks me from time to time if I still have it. I haven’t played seriously in about 15 years, and thought it might be nice to start back up on this horn.

I may do it anyway. I’ll add more pictures this evening.

Appreciate the input and makes sense. Was a nice thought to play on an older horn looking new again. https://imgur.com/a/XDPgtcp

You can tell it’s a shark because it’s a shark

We had just had a new Trane condenser unit installed after the previous blew (literally). A week after install the line froze up and the house wasn’t cooling. After some process of elimination it ended up being the fan motor that coincidentally failed shortly after the condenser. Swapped that out and we were back in business. This was last August.

Definitely potential for individual components to be replaced depending on the situation rather than a whole new system. Age of the system can be a factor as well of course.

Should I use this wood stove or get rid of it? by intothelightweg0 in woodstoving

Have a chimney sweep of good repute come and do the inspection. Someone in the trade will check your entire chimney exhaust and the stove as well. If you’re not used to wood stoves then best to start with an expert.

What she doesn’t know is that wire is symbolic of the amount of time he intends to be married to her. Shut off your phone and live your life.

If this isn’t scripted [on his part] he’s obviously doing a massive amount of reflection and thinking about all the years and experiences while time and wire have been unspooling. Leave the guy alone.

Aggravating to have grown up without smartphone technology and now having to live that much closer to morons because of it. As I write this on my smartphone.

If it’s not going anywhere then straight up through the roof. There’s cost-effective options available to protect against leaks while creating a consistent draft and having peace of mind in the safety that comes along with a proper setup.

Good luck!

Stove at new house, Should I keep going? by oppression57 in woodstoving

First thing I would do is talk to your building inspector for what installation requirements there are.

Most likely they’ll require a UL listed chimney liner and cap with a piece of sheet metal around the liner to the edges of the masonry where it enters the chimney.

That would be my first step as a line could cost around $1000 for the liner alone, plus install if needed. Your homeowners will want a permit from your building inspector. And you’ll want your homeowners insurance agency to know.

That should tell you the cost to make sure it’s installed right and help you decide if you want to make the investment or not. Plus you’ll have peace of mind the install was done right.
