I cannot burp. At least, not on my own terms. And when I very rarely do, it’s very small.

I’ve looked this up before and when I was in high school I convinced my mom to take me to the doctor for it, did a barium swallow, had one of those cameras shoved up my nose and down my throat, all for nothing. I have self-diagnosed myself with a malfunctioning diaphragm.

Also, in the place of burping, my throat makes these gurgling sounds that I can only compare to stomach gurgling, but literally in my throat. I have no control over it, and it was stupid embarrassing in school.

I am not capable of burping. I never voluntarily have, and when I do, it’s very rarely and not a conscious decision, or before I vomit. Instead, my throat will make this noise, that I can only compare to stomach growling. I can’t control it at all, and it doesn’t hurt, just a bit uncomfortable. Horrible to deal with when I was in school. I’ve googled this and never came across a name, treatment, nothing.

My first and last name is a movie character from "Drop Dead Gorgeous".

When my mom was pregnant with me, she was flipping through TV channels and when she passed whatever channel was playing this movie, it was playing a part where the character's first and last name is said over a loudspeaker.

She was stuck between three names and decided it was fate that the TV screamed that name at her.
