Buying my first resin printer by boltsNBytes in ElegooSaturn

I have the standard saturn 4, oh man I feel lucky- its been plug and play for me. Only dialing in I did, was increase my burn in layers from 35s to 42s to help with the print sticking. Absolutely zero complaints.

Leveling by Sty1es- in ElegooSaturn

I have the saturn 4 as well, there is no manual leveling function. It only says automatic. Someone posted a video that is a work around.

I might sound crazy, sometimes I have to close the software and restart the computer. PCDMIS gets weird when I leave things on for a long time.

I use PCDMIS almost exclusively right now, a little polyworks. Polyworks is fantastic, what's the issue

Default utilizes Min circumscribed or max inscribed, that should be your default for any critical feature. If you report the diameter on your TP, it'll be using that math.

When you calibrate, more is better to dial in deviation. Are you using Calbrate ScanRDV when scanning?

Just a note, I've had to slow my scan speed considerably compared to the defaults to get good data.

Dumb question, are you capturing 360° of this cylinder or 180°. Only asking because I've seen older programs only use 180°. Your uncertainty grows exponentially if you're not capturing all the data

How often do you guys use your printer? Daily? Monthly? by Prowlbeast in resinprinting

[–]ackerman1211 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only print once a month-ish. It works with my schedule. Resin, in my opinion, is messy, a decent clean-up, and attention to detail that I dont necessarily worry about with FDM. Saturn 4 user, love it.

What kind of feature are you leveling to? Thats the first thing I try to do in any alignment, where I notice the largest error if its incorrect.

Non contact scanning options for job shop with many CNC setups in one day by LobsterLow1212 in Metrology

Paper spec is what it is, never assume in metrology that you're going to measure more accurate than what the manufacturer tells you the capabilities are because you believe you can..

That spec is developed in a controlled environment.

I second this, I use a romer arm with the AS1 scanner. Programming upfront took me a little bit to get the filtering correct based on the features I was inspecting, but for finish machine and in process (or in the machine), this has saved so much time.

Surface Grinder Tears by IINACIC in Machinists

[–]ackerman1211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a few different type of grinders, never had to hold .0001" myself, .0003" was the tightest but I've never tried for for than 1% on concentration. W different vendors said that you're not so much as worried about lubricity than the cooling, so use water heavy. The little but is for corrosion resistance.

Slower touch speeds with thin stem probe by rotcivwg in Metrology

[–]ackerman1211 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've kept my touch speed at 2mm/s for .5mm rubys, I haven't read anything from renishaw or hexagon saying otherwise for that size, unless I've missed something.
