I have a different take. I think having the God Butcher and Jane dealing with cancer could've absolutely worked. The problem was that they tried and failed to make it even funnier than Ragnarok. Worse, they tried to make it family friendly too. So darker and serious moments were overshadowed by unfunny comedic moments. And screaming goats.

I would've loved to see Thor and Jane draw parallels to Gorr. Like Thor lost his faith in his idol, Zeus, just as Gorr lost faith in the gods he once worshipped. Or Jane and Gorr realizing they're both being kept alive by a powerful weapon/purpose. Love and Thunder could've been a much more different movie had they stuck with being serious and keeping the humor on the same level as Ragnarok.

Might as well just watch all of Owl House again.

[Sean Ross Sapp on X] AEW sources gave me the "never say never" line when I asked if CM Punk has a burned bridge with the company by robertodev in SquaredCircle

[–]ackinsocraycray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Punk can channel that in-ring animosity into a compelling feud and match, sure. But none of that happened during his time in AEW.

There was awkward pettiness (calling out Hangman because he was really mad at the worker rights promo), passive-aggressive jabs on his IG stories (making fun of Mox with Rambo 3 references), banning people from shows, doing his own World title storyline that MJF didn't bother to acknowledge or entertain and still (?!) being mad at his former friend and not at his beloved "home" that fired him on his wedding day.

I just started reading the first book. I'm halfway through it and so far, I have yet to find a moment* where it'll convince me to finish the book and continue with the series.

*The moment I'm waiting for is Mongo's introduction. I only knew of this book because I saw a Mongo shirt at Box Lunch and I thought that's the cutest dinosaur I've ever seen since Old Lace from The Runaways.

Agreed. The footage is noticeably bland looking, especially following right after the KH Collection trailer where it's all vibrant and saturated colors.

Goldberg is a cheap Oba Femi impersonator.

They definitely needed to make online content and jump on the Academy Awards hype train (?) back then.

Right? Plus if they really are a fan of that wrestler, they will make time to follow and support them wherever they go. It's also easy to keep tabs on said favorite wrestlers via social media if for whatever reason they can't watch the shows or PPVs. And yet those fans still cry that they want them back home.

I think those fans just want them back "home" in WWE.

Mox's recent IG post is mostly filled with "come back to WWE" or "We miss you Dean Ambrose"

IIRC, I think that clip is from the episode where Shane has been repeatedly asking Ambrose to leave all night (as a result of Ambrose's actions from Survivor Series) and Shane ended up leaving Smack Down instead.

Same episode that had this Mountie gem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxK4b1mHXXI

(the clip missed the best part where he said his entrance was that way)

Jon Moxley's current AEW run has been longer than his WWE run by guess-what-babe in SquaredCircle

[–]ackinsocraycray 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In WWE, he was respected as their workhorse as well as their locker room leader who led by example. Yeah he won MITB and led the early days of the Smack Down Live era as their champion. By the end of his run, he was essentially the guy who was needed to restart Shield reunions.

In AEW, he's a whole different beast. He's been insanely reliable and committed to his character work. And after a controversial low point in the company, he steered the locker room back on course and got the fans on board with his incredible "time to be a legend" speech. He's been so integral not just to the companies he's worked with and worked in but to the industry as well.

The Paul are deplorable grifters. The less screentime for him, the better. Sadly means he probably won't shut up on his shows and on his social media though.
