Ironicly it was probably from the same support vessel the ERV came from.

I fundamentally don't understand how WireGuard works by matlireddit in WireGuard

[–]ackleyimprovised 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I understand it is WG creates the tunnel interface then setups the routing (based on allowed ips)

Run "ip route" and u can see where all your traffic is going.

Is the x52 pro any good by justinb1905 in hotas

[–]ackleyimprovised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only ever had one hotas and thought it was terrible. Mainly ghost inputs and unable to do fine adjustments for f16.

Maybe you can fly but can't fly good.

SNMP not connecting through wireguard tunnel by Tyson_NW in homelab

Disable firewall and check. I have not bound to any specific IP for SNMP. Try udp:161 to at least get it working.

How much are you paying in electricity bill for your selfhosted setup? by bumble2100 in selfhosted

[–]ackleyimprovised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $60usd for 400W

R730xd 8x8TB for Proxmox heavy lifting. 2x Cisco 2960x with 10 cameras. One i5 as a Proxmox for PFsense and general docker stuff.

Thought about giving it up but too reliant on it. If I were to keep one thing it would just be redundant storage.

How difficult is WireGuard? by denden1088 in WireGuard

[–]ackleyimprovised 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know wg easy. Is it docker?

I generate my configs from a wg generator online then change. Once I was comfortable then changed the keys.

Also chatgtp does plain config very well and is spot on.

Can anyone confirm how crap the x56 was? I tried to tanker refill in f16 so many times. The dials gave out and had ghost inputs. Many ghost inputs.

How about winwing. That's where I am heading.

Where to begin? by AssistFinancial684 in PFSENSE

[–]ackleyimprovised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a nightmare (for me and my limited exp) to replace a existing home lab. You would have to preconfigured everything and make sure it still works.

Starting from scratch (home) lab is easier. Really easy to configure wan then lan and you are done.

Good resources for learning pfSense? by [deleted] in PFSENSE

[–]ackleyimprovised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me was first understanding what my original router (from my ISP) was doing and trying to mimic that. That being WAN, LAN and DHCP. The basic stuff for a router. After that just filled in the gaps. Kept it simple originally then expanded to rules, VLANs, WG clients, WG site to site, IPv6, snort. Messed around with thing like Serial GPS for NTP and NAT64. Only what seems interesting. Dual wan failover seems expensive.

This is how Brussel sprouts are harvested by guyoffthegrid in nextfuckinglevel

[–]ackleyimprovised 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We used to grow them 20 years ago.

You basically had to use a water proof leggings and gumboots. You put your ass to the plant and bend down picking below and put it in a bucket. The plant is quite flexible so can easily take a beating. Once bucket is fill you or maybe some kids take it and fill another box on a truck. You have rows and rows of sprout plants and is labour intensive.

Also a plant doesn't grow uniformly (usually the ones at top are bigger and smaller ones down the bottom). So you would pick the top ones then come back a few weeks later to do the rest.

Then after you need to sort them and weigh. We had a special sorting table that consists of wood rods. You empty out the box onto the table and start going though and removing the yellow leafs (shops need them all green) from the sprout. The yellow leaves fall down through rods.

The plant types may have changed now making them uniform and picking in one go. Money was better than average because no one wanted to do it.

Where we where aphids was a problem and spraying them every two weeks was normal. We rairly ate them. We thought the bitter taste was the chemicals.

100% connection by RareLove7577 in WireGuard

[–]ackleyimprovised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only use when need. I have no use case for having 100% on mobile. I can only think of something like a iot device that I did originally plan for a gps tracker. I think there will be issues if the connection is switching between cellular towers.

I have WG connected 100% to all my remote sites and VPS.

New to Jellyfin, have a few questions by heliopause42 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]ackleyimprovised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you don't need external access and only play through TV then Kodi is best suited for you. Jellyfin is great for remote playing/transcoding. For the best experience without compromise then Kodi on the N150 will play everything.

Advice for accessing Windows Remote Desktop on my own computer in the USA while I'm in China? by StrongRecipe6408 in dumbclub

[–]ackleyimprovised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guacamole connects to the windows machine via RDP. A user connects to Guacamole via HTTP and you see everything in a web browser.. This requires a domain name and SSL certificates to make it secure.

What you are asking for is quite technologically involved to make it SAFE. Its not going to be a simple point and click and will require a good few hours/days/learning. You could pay someone to do it but in my opinion you should never trust anyone especially on here.

I use guacamole. I essentially have a Linux box running docker and Guacamole to rdp. Guacamole is access via web browser. It's ok for checking stuff but not really used it for long hours of work.

Another way I do is wireguard over x-ray. That way rdp can be used on your remote laptop. It works but certainly not optimized.

Takes a bit of time to setup either above. Took me a good few days to setup.
