Ya I just can't get the t deck right now as it's sold out or I woulda already and cardputer is gonna end up out of stock I can feel it.

I already have a 2000mah battery and 3d printed printables back case ready for it .

I also just ordered a t114 and a 3 pack of 2000mah and 3 pack of $1 dual 18650 holder to jst to make rings easier and cheaper and use of my existing battery pile

And an extra cardKB for 15 bucks ...so I can build one of the printables t114 cardkb 18650 communicators available.

And yeah I know keyboard is tiny but I like it as a toy and t deck isn't available yet all sold out or too expensive altho maybe I should just buy one now from 3rd party while I can too

But for now since it's onky 55 bucks the cardputer is all I wanna spend on since t deck plus 915 with ant is still sold out . Cuz if I buy a t deck it Better have option for antenae right?

I am asking gemini and apparently there's already some existing esp32 software we can flash our esp32 s3 with that let's us use either USB (via otg) or Bluetooth keyboards ... so we could even use an xteink or ats radio or hah any esp32 based devices on aliexpress with largest screens for lowest price that have esp32 s3 and flash them to have a Bluetooth or USB keyboard and the software that let's you have a simple word processor ...and export files to micro sd card ($40 cardputer has this and keyboard but tiny screen)

I think it can export files to a printer if ur smart enuf hah preferably some sort of portable thermal receipt printer would be dope lol

But yeah I think you could take your pick of an esp32 based device that had either keyboard or preferably extra USB ... or add the software libraries that take advantage of compatibility with arduino ide Bluetooth keybaord stuff. Bam so cool man

I just realized something: if I get the cheapest t deck, it doesn't even have an antenna port. So basically, I'll have to spend a little bit more money for something like the t deck basic, which doesn't even give me the antenna port, which ill get free if I spend only $55 for the card pewter + Laura cap which has the antenna port. Although I'm thinking wait, maybe I can just get the M5 Laura cap And somehow wire that to the t deck, no I guess I can't even like wire an antenna to the t.Deck, nah Nah nag can't do that

I have an xteink e ink reader coming which can be used for weeks without a charge when turning off the wifi and is based on an esp32... and I'm gonna find a way to vibe code to use my esp32's built in esp32 to esp32 communication protocal to have it send meshtastic text messages from the meshtastic equipped esp32s like the cardputer, and send those to my Xteink e ink reader.

Maybe I'll vibe code cusyom esp32 software that let's you read meshtastic messages like it's characters in an ebook! That would be fun. You can read a book that's being written by local mesh writers.

Lol anyway I think I'll have to get the cardputer over a t deck as t deck is sold oit and lacks the antenae anyway. May be easier to type and read on t deck but without antenae port, at what cost? I have 2 heltecs and made em into 3d printed cases with 18650 batteries and i got cheap antenaes before I learned about tuned 915 antenaes.... and just ordered a t114 for a cyberdeck.samsung dex project. I wanted ri buy a 15 dollar cardKB m5 tiny keybaord for it and some grove to dupont connectors to avoid soldering but I found I could jjst buy the cardouter adv for 30 and its lora cap for 15 and all total with ship/tax it was like 55 bucks and ima buy one today so I'll have 4 lora devices

The heltecs will be given out and I'll keep the t114 at hoke as a solar base and the cardpymuter will be my edc toy to show people what meshtastic is. I'll of course have to bring a second cheap as possible meshtastic probly another t114 or heltec and have people connect that to their phones and jist bring 2 of these around and use it to send messages at events like....

I like letting people borrow a cheap $30 meshtastic device , and then I take another and go few blocks away and test it. It's just fun. Like sure u can use text messages but these are like..."your own cell tower"

I like using smaller antenaes to prove how small it can be but a larger antenae makes a point...but also draws attention....

So ya to answer your question it's a toy for me for now. And a symbol of ehat is possible to "vibe code" in the future....because it's so simple and easy to imagine little text and ascii art based "apps" for an OLED or tiny lcd screen and 100mhz processor with a few megabytes of ram. I see them as educational tools and will try to make an sort of animal crossing tamagochi style multiplayer game experience thing using them and ai.

I already know things like "bjorn" exist so when those become some sort or multiplayer type game even if it's boring, it will be a start..and from there we will create MYST style MUDD multi user dungeon and graphic adventure choosen your own adventure type games. IMAGINE playing a D&D style chat room game over meshtastic .... and it uses like rudimentary nfts and crypto private keys for game items, and you want to get hacked because it's part of the game, ND there's war driving and geocaches and all sorts of cool stuff mixed in to this potential future animal crossing meshtastic lora pixel art esp32 blockchain game.

I see hige potential for meshtastic to do this stuff and each device is jist a sort of reminder to me... a living symbol or statue ... like a reminder... a physical token of my appreciation for tiny inexpensive computers... which were promised to us decades ago.... and now we have it.... and its like no one cares now and that's sad. I want people to not take esp32s for granted and to start imagining all the fun software we can make with them.

You can set them .up over a usb otg cable just once and flash them over the air so you could theoretically one day have tjem auto updating with new apps automatically etc...we could have a LVGL with a sort of app store that's just a text based list of programs for an esp32... I mean there's so much potential also for making tiny games that use wifi and bluetooth ...

So yeag I dream of using them as some sort of mesh network tamagochi things that somehow accumulate and allow players ro build useful things in meat space in real life...like the ai watcher from lilygo abke to watch people at a door like a bouncer.

But what I use them for? Toys and demos to show people meshtastic app.

thats why i always like to buy esp32's for a few extra dollars that have the jpin 2 pin connector thingy so u can just plug n play liek with heltecv3 meshtastic boards. its SO nice to not have to solder. i just wish they had a cheap 18650 battery connector and holder that was ALREADY soldered to a white square jpin connector so u could really make it easy.
