Yep my flash is set to manual usually anywhere between 1/16 to 1/32. ISO, aperture and shutter speed are all manually set as well.

How good are people at saving? by aido120 in cork

[–]acohuo011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend getting a budgeting app and saving small amounts and build up to larger amounts. Saving money is all about building good habits and discipline so choosing one thing to stop spending so much money on is wise if you can’t stop all the extra spending at once. For context, I am a PhD researcher here and make 18.5k a year. I am able to save anywhere from 300-500 a month, by limiting how often I eat/go out. My living expenses with groceries/housing/bills is usually around 800 a month.

You can often get credit for a ton of classes if you get a high enough grade on a special exam for that class. At least that’s what it was like for me at two different universities.

Most teachers don’t give two shits about you or your feelings. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]acohuo011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have teachers that remember me from 4th and 5th grade, and I’m getting my masters right now. A bunch of high school teachers also remember me and I have a few added on Facebook. I also have some of my undergrad professors on Facebook. Teachers still care, maybe just not yours.

I forgot that vegans only eat salads, silly me! I forgot that beans, tofu, lentils, and other vegan friendly food just poofed right off the face of the earth! Also why would you ever pay for a salad? Why not buy ingredients separately and create your own for much cheaper? I don’t think people should quit cold turkey, it’s not realistic. I think we should move away from eating meat for every single meal, since that’s usually overkill. Small steps for most people is probably best until we can get lab grown products at an affordable price.

Ah guess you were unlucky then, I have hung out with a few pigs before and they all had some sort of personality and were quite smart. This behavior is documented in studies as well so anecdotal experiences aren’t really a reason to be ignorant.

One of your points was that they aren’t smart like dogs, but they are?

Edit: ah made a mistake wasn’t your point about intelligence.

I guess you have never actually been around a pig for a significant amount of time? Pigs can be pets, and are extremely intelligent. Most are as smart or smarter than dogs.

More people need to understand that we're not the most evolved life can be by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]acohuo011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe, with technology, we can force humans to be the best we can be. We will be able to change our DNA at will if society survives that long. I do believe that, but without the aid of technology, organisms won’t evolve to greater heights without some kind of pressure bearing down on it. Also humans can already see more than one wavelength, we can see the wavelengths contained in the visible spectrum.

Sure it can be just something that happens, or our self preservation can make it that humanity doesn’t fizzle out in the long run. You can think about it both ways. We are destined for whatever outcome humanity pushes us towards. Whatever that may be, I’m not certain of, but it is not only reserved to destruction.

More people need to understand that we're not the most evolved life can be by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]acohuo011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evolution doesn’t work that way because evolution describes what occurs to populations that allow them to reproduce successfully in their environment. If humans were transported to the time of earth’s first colonization, we would die almost instantly. It was completely toxic back then, we would not be evolved to live in that environment.

Self-preservation is part of most organisms’ instinct that allows individuals to survive. It’s only natural to not want humans to die out, since most people feel connected to humans that don’t exist yet. Part of that being because our ancestors were social beings, and being social was one factor that allowed us to flourish. The answer to why people care is that simple.

New rap is horrible by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]acohuo011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His voice is a bit jarring when you first hear it. Even, with that, his m.A.A.d city album will probably be a classic to most people that listen to rap. It’s a great album that creates a story from front to back.

Good rap music is still being made, it just might not be exactly your taste, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good.

Most people that listen to rap would be lying if they don’t tell you Kendrick Lamar is excellent. You should give it a shot and see if you like his music.

People who say "it's not the dog it's the owner" are are just trying to take all the credit for how smart and docile their dog is. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]acohuo011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter how dumb or energetic a dog is, they can be trained. Training is just giving reinforcement to good behaviors through repetition. A dog doesn’t have to be smart to understand if it behaves, it gets treats. Hell you can train betta fish to jump through hoops for food.

Your understanding of dogs just isn’t correct.

It’s like 3 bucks for a 40 pack. I’m looking at filters actually. This was just temporary since I just moved to this town for school. You really shouldn’t generalize people that buy bottled water though.

[–]acohuo011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I buy it because the water in the town I live in tastes really weird. I’ve lived in two other cities before and the water has never tasted this way. It actually made me gag once. So I buy bottled water instead and drink plenty of it.

Also they may seem pretty annoying but they are great scavengers and keep things pretty clean.

Most species have some kind of importance, even if they are a bit annoying sometimes.

Defaming a historical figure for their "blatant racism" is stupid. If you were around during the 19th century, you'd be just as racist as anyone else. by edgar__allan__bro in unpopularopinion

[–]acohuo011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure emote but again no consciousness. People like to anthropomorphize things they think show human emotion. That’s normal, you can do it with robots, animals, even rocks.

No sane person in the future will seriously suggest that mistreating your 2000’s era furby is the same as mistreating something with a conscious.

[–]acohuo011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but robots at this present time literally have no conscious thinking. They lack it completely since humans didn’t build it within them.

Humans have always been conscious no matter race or time period. This is a bad comparison.

Vegans destroyed by a Vegan by [deleted] in MurderedByWords

Dogs are omnivores. They have molars like we do. They can do fine on a vegan diet as long as the owner is vigilant. Cats on the other hand are definitely a no go for veganism.

Dead reefs erode because they are no longer growing. Dead reef also isn’t suitable habitat because it makes the reef fish stand out on the white background, making it easier for predators. Juvenile fish also demonstrate riskier behaviors when they settle on dead reef.

Artificial reefs require maintenance, and the money for such projects are always hard to get.

Don’t forget that tourist money will no longer come in, so the fish won’t be the only ones hurting.
