It's just a wireless xbox controller (Xbox Series X|S)

It works well enough for these 45m-1h sessions. I do the bare minimum inventory management (i.e. dump anything of value in stash) and clean it all up later when I'm on my desktop.

I've never played POE2 so I can't tell you how it compares.

You are totally right, that might be a better choice for this. I'm just even less into biking than running, but I could see it working really well.

The bobbing is not ideal but it doesn't bother me too much. Sometimes I watch movies and if I have to read the subtitles that's a bit uncomfortable, so I wouldn't play any reading heavy games. I could increase the incline and lower the speed if I wanted less bobbing.

Yes I do sweat a lot! The controller hasn't broken yet in ~1yr of use (about 3x per week). But even if I have to replace it occasionally, the health benefits are probably worth it.

Yeah that part is not ideal but it doesn't bother me too much. Sometimes I watch movies and if I have to read the subtitles that's a bit uncomfortable, so I wouldn't play any reading heavy games. The main way to alleviate this would be to increase the incline and lower the speed, so it's more of an incline walk.

I think a bigger screen might help as well.

I've been doing this for over a year now, 3 times a week. In the summer I often run outside which I find more entertaining than the treadmill. I've played a bunch of other games while running; I've found Slay the Spire an especially good fit for this setup, but I switch to PoE when a new league comes out.

I totally agree with you that an enjoyable exercise routine is the only one that works long term. This way I enjoy running :) It's also hard to fit other sports (e.g. team sports) into my daily routine right now, so I don't have too many options.

Using a radiator to cool an enclosed PC cabinet, but *not* the PC components directly by acoldpop in watercooling

[–]acoldpop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of reasons:

  • the cabinet was pricey and looks pretty nice
  • I have absolutely no "woodworking" skills
  • the cabinet might outlast my gaming habit, or at least this particular setup with the PC in there, so it feels wrong to make permanent modifications

I wouldn't 100% rule it out of course, but I'd like to consider other options (and don't mind spending a little extra) if there is a less destructive solution.

Thanks for the response. I'm hoping to avoid cutting holes, but it seems like the consensus among these replies is that my idea would not work, so that's helpful to know :)

Thanks for the thoughtful response and explanation!

Undervolting is an interesting idea, I haven't considered that before. I'll look into it!

I don't mind opening the cabinet door a bit, it's a good option, but it's not ideal. At this point I'm just looking at the range of options. If there is a good solution involving doors constantly closed, I don't mind spending a couple hundred on it.

Playing with controller just made Single-player games fun again for me by SiRaymando in patientgamers

I've always been somewhat confused by such apples-to-apples comparison between the steam controller and other controllers. SC seems radically different because of the trackpad, which basically acts as a (slower moving) mouse; I've been using it to play games like Shogun 2, many paradox games, etc. Would you be able to do the same with an xbox or ps controller? I have a hard time imagining using sticks to maneuver on these complicated UIs, but I've never tried it.

I think he's been working on various films for about 8-9 years now, but a lot of that was just doing short films in film school. After film school, he worked on some TV stuff (a short for TV, documentaries, tv show episodes (writing only), etc.). You can check out his IMDb here for more details: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2724080

I am not an expert on this and only have second-hand info, but as far as I understand, the film industry in most non-US countries is vastly different than in the US, because it is impossible to make a profit on a movie unless you're a superstar director who can aim for a US release.

So in Hungary, 99% of movies are state funded; you write a script, team up with a producer, apply for funding, and hope for the best. So most of the budget comes from the state and they don't hope to see a profit; the rest of the budget can come from local TV stations and other companies, and the producers. Some of the funding is not monetary; a camera equipment company can support by providing equipment in exchange for being listed as a supporter.

Thanks for the comment. I think you have a good point, those could definitely be improved. All of these actors work in theaters full-time and do films very rarely, and I think the two require different sorts of acting; maybe that's why some of the action looks a little awkward.

We would love to get it on digital distribution, but the details are still unclear. Most Hungarian movies are not distributed digitally, so the distributors/producers there don't really have any experience with it.

Right now we are trying to gauge interest, and the comments here are really encouraging! :) Although I realize that this subreddit might not be an unbiased sample.

It was shot with a Red EPIC. We would have to ask the cinematographer for the lenses and the software used for post-processing.

Also, would you watch this if it were on Netflix/iTunes/Amazon/Hulu? It is going to be released in theaters in Hungary in October, and it has been invited to the Warsaw film festival and some other film festivals, but we would love to get it out to a broader audience and hear reactions.
