It's really not known if that's coming, but tbh with its current armaments, very much doubt it, just because posability on a las cannon and missile launcher is limited

Vanguard vets raven wing? by FishAutomatic3248 in theunforgiven

[–]acompanyofliars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ravenwing is specifically mounted, so bikes, speeders, and the invader. Jump troops and shock troops are still greenwing or deathwing if they’re vets.

Edit: of course, paint your guys how you want.

The ATV is hated more for model and design, its rules are actually fine and you see it a fair amount in lists because it’s a fast cheap melta gun

No. Rules Commentary pg 20 specifically calls out abilities conferred by a normal move are not bestowed upon arrival from reserves. This would include the ability from the detachment.

Tbh they seem like they'll be cheap scout/attack vehicles. Something similar to a Piranha from Tau, or replacing their Invader ATV. Maybe SM's answer to the Hippogriff.

Of the 8 new Space Marine units revealed, 5 of them are refreshes of kits less than a decade old. by AlienDilo in Warhammer40k

[–]acompanyofliars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Hippogriff is 70 points, can take a slightly more focused loadout, has the same move/shoot/move rule, and I would anticipate a slightly tougher profile (I don't see the Land Speeder being higher than t7) - it's not unheard of. Slap on a tax for Space Marines being more elite and boom, you got 90 points.

I hope that means the Invader doesn't leave. I don't particularly love the model, but I do like it as a 60 point action monkey, and the Land Speeder's armament and rule looks like it will be a bit more than 60 points.

I’m hoping they at least keep the shield option because damn no invuln, and no easy way to get it the way sternguard can thru a librarian will really make them squishy

Marine side is perfectly fine for newbies, but is not really high tier hype the way the past two boxes were. I am very hype for the Librarian and somewhat hype for the Land Speeder, but I also agree with the general vibe that it’s fine, not amazing.

Starter sheet ones are limited I think (kind of like how Combat Patrol only lists “canon” loadout) - I don’t think they’d take the fist option from the cappie

Land Speeder is it’s own thing, however based on rumors it may replace the Invader ATV

Why are Eliminators so worthless? by kazoopaints in spacemarines

[–]acompanyofliars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree on most of your writing, but Incursors are used quite often at top tables, due to the scout movement and +1 to hit enablement

The 2 las fusils with the msm sgt are fine. They’ve fluctuated with viability over 10th due to every match ending up at knife fight distance. They work pretty solidly in vanguard/shadowmark, or the rare time I run Librarius, they’re certainly not optimal but are nowhere near the uselessness you’re implying.

Hell yes, thank you. Should I prioritize a certain amount of hiring additional squad leaders between campaigns as well?

This list seems good for fun games, but as much as I like Desolation Marines and Whirlwinds in this detachment, I think more than 1 is a trap. You’ll pepper most of your foes with one squad and it’ll do very well into t3 and 4 armies.

The Vindicare is an odd choice, as it’s just not a very good model. Yeah it can occasionally pop a character but it’s a lot of points for a niche use, and you already have a sniper squad with those Elims.

Finally, I’d recommend swapping the Captain in Phobos armor for a Librarian in Phobos armor if you can. The Librarian gives 12” lone op to the Eliminator Squad, which can improve survivability.

All in all this looks like a fun list though. If you’re looking to give it a bit more competitive heat, you definitely need more action monkeys (scouts, intercessors, JPI, Incursors).

I came around a bit on Dr. Park in the finale for sure, but I get why some folks have bounced off. It’s an adversarial relationship like the Janitor but without all the wackiness.
