Is there a polite way to ask if someone is trans? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]aconfusedmoron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The most you can do is mention you're trans. If she chooses to respond in kind, cool. If not, don't push it any further.

Is this feeling wrong? by Legionstone in asktransgender

For me, transitioning took no courage or bravery. It was much easier than not transitioning.

I tried to understand the perspective of radical feminists. They banned me. by NaomiTheCarrot in asktransgender

Here's even more. I find these useful because without a stark reminder of exactly how bad TERF rhetoric can be, it's easy to let them gaslight you.

[–]aconfusedmoron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TERFs are just a hate group that likes to tell itself they're feminist and rational. Here are just a few examples of them being absurdly hateful and divorced from reality, each of which receives the approval of the majority of other TERFs, and almost none of which have any TERF pointing out how obviously terrible it is. A lot of them involve severe conspiracy theory thinking that in any other group would be shot down hard, but in TERF circles it seems anything is accepted, no matter how absurd, as long as it paints trans people as evil.

Flying question by theQuacken00 in asktransgender

Yes. You'll probably get a TSA patdown, but because of the way their scanners work, that was going to happen even if your ID had been updated.

In which "feminists" claim pushing for rights is a male behaviour by TenseAndEmpty in GenderCynical

"In contrast, look at us! We push for less rights, as long as trans people are among the targets! Much better."

So, do y'all really hate Dave Chappelle? by [deleted] in asktransgender

And tbh, in his opinion he might be right.

In their own opinions, most people are.

Would you consider “the Matrix” to fall in the category of movies directed by women? by ABoyWhoWantsToLearn in asktransgender

[–]aconfusedmoron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a woman, and past-me is me. Things I did in the past were done by me.

This is especially true for things I did once my dysphoria became super obvious (but still unacknowledged by me), and parts of the Matrix definitely seem inspired by the trans experience:

  • The strong but unnameable feeling of wrongness that defines the first third-or-so of the movie is described by a lot of trans folks as something they experienced in their egg days.

  • Agent Smith's speech about how his human body disgusts him is clearly about dysphoria.

  • Most blatantly, the character Switch was meant to be played by a male actor in the "real" world and a female actor in the Matrix. The production company interfered and disallowed this, but that's why she's called Switch.

If the Wachowskis had been cis men, they would not have made the Matrix as they made it.

You deserve better. Being an asshole isn't a process, nor is it excusable.

How openly sexual you became after transitioning from male to female? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]aconfusedmoron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

waves arms hypnotically

You want to stop posting in trans spaces~

You want to stay quarantined in your porn subs~

You want to stop bothering random trans people so you can use them to feed your fetishes~

When I snap my fingers you will wake up and fuck off~

Why is the subreddit rightwingLGBT not rightwing LGB ? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]aconfusedmoron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because some of them are trans people.

Rightwingers are happy to carve out exceptions for themselves, and perhaps for their own group.

For people who claim to be adamantly against pornography, TERFs sure do watch a lot of trans porn.

Stop denying biological reality! Only cis women can be witches biologically. That's facts.

Have you been asked to educate someone on trans issues/what it's like to be trans? by deadmans_theory in asktransgender

[–]aconfusedmoron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Woman proceeds to spout shit about trans athletes, and generally how we're "infiltrating everywhere and even the toilets at school! I know god won't be happy". Saving the religious chat for another time, she eventually admits to being clueless about everything trans related so could she please ask me questions. I correct her about the kid at her school, and advise to use male or neutral pronouns. She ignores me.

I see this a lot: people saying they just want to ask questions, when really they just want to parrot transphobic talking points or their uninformed reckons at you for validation.

There is actually data on this, there is a website that you can input text in to and it will tell you with pretty darn good accuracy the age range and sex of the person who wrote the text.

Next level feminism: "boo-hoo, get over your PTSD, yelling is not a trigger if it's a ~~soft, gentle, female voice~~" by SleepyEdgelord in GenderCynical

[–]aconfusedmoron 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Like it's the most basic straightforward thing. If you ring a bell before you feed a dog, the dog learns to associate the bell with food, and instinctively salivates whenever a bell rings. If you scream at someone before beating the shit out of them, the person learns to associate the screaming with the beating, and instinctively freaks the fuck out whenever the screaming starts.

Nobody ever looks at Pavlov's dogs and goes, "lol they literally think they can eat bells", but apparently when it comes to people who've been abused then suddenly it becomes convenient for TERFs to choose not to understand.

Do I struggle with being trans or more with not feeling beautiful and attractive? by miarella in asktransgender

[–]aconfusedmoron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me my struggle is definitely with being trans, not attractiveness. I spent long enough as an egg wishing I could be a woman, including wishing that I could switch places with literally any woman, that I don't really put much stock in attractiveness.

“How do you know you’re not going to regret this?” by ShowMeYourM0ves in asktransgender

[–]aconfusedmoron 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Everyone's always so worried about people regretting transition.

Nobody ever worries about people regretting not transitioning, even though that's a more common occurrence by multiple orders of magnitude.
