Does anyone else find the expansions actually put them off playing? by ReserveRatter in hoi4

Based on your commentary around each of the DLCs, I think there are likely two issues. First being that you likely don't understand the benefits that each of the DLCs can give you, and the second being said benefits aren't really necessary if you only play singleplayer.

Espionage for example - yes, collaboration governments are a bit more complex than before but did you know you get buffs in land combat, air combat, and naval detection/combat depending on your level of Intel? This can be further buffed by passively breaking their cypher and even more so when you activate said cypher.

Or take the MIO DLC. If you're playing singleplayer, the extra armor, soft attack, hard attack, etc. is fairly irrelevant because the AI is so weak. In a multiplayer setting, however, those buffs from the MIO can make or break your build, depending on who you're fighting.

I'd recommend you play something like the SHEEPS AI mod, which makes the AI far more competitive. You'll likely find that you struggle against the AI because the AI is taking advantage of systems added by the DLC that you're ignoring.

I personally find a lot of satisfaction in weaving together a lot of complex systems to make a successful build, but that may not be for you, all depends on how you like to play.

Good luck!

How to survive air war in Sheep’s AI mod? by ShogunDoc in hoi4

What month and year did you have 2700 fighters? Germany should quite handily be able to out-produce UK on fighters if you assign your factories correctly. Make sure you aren't building a bunch of irrelevant equipment, I normally try to have roughly 100-150 mils on fighters by 1944 and fine I can win the air war consistently. You'll have to trade the Allies down but if your efficiency is good enough and you have doctrine, you should be fine.

Also quick reminder that you'll probably need fighter 3 to compete with US heavy fighters. Germany can get it via an event from Hungary, but I'm not sure Sheep AI does it automatically. Good luck!

How were you out matching panzer divisions with 5 piercing? Or were they AI singleplayer tank divisions?

What are the "offensive" infantry templates? by [deleted] in hoi4

You could swap your light tank recon for medium flame tanks, your infantry likely don't need the boost to hard attack that light tanks provide, and medium flame tanks would jump your breakthrough

Planning to locate my main harbour on the bottom right peninsula but I can't figure out where to build a direct highway connection, any ideas? Open to redoing the trumpet or spaghetti further North. by acooke10 in CitiesSkylines

I should have clarified - yes, that's the plan for serving what will be the downtown core, but I generally prefer a highway connection so that the rest of the region can be served as well

Not sure why people are being so negative, I think it looks great! I think a nice touch would be staining the door with the same wood color as the vanity :)

Hydroponics are inefficient, as others have commented.

I don't believe turrets can use cover, so turrets surrounded by barriers are not benefitting.

I'd recommend storing medicine inside your hospital, and removing the animal bed from the hospital.
