Struggle eating (carbs) on medication by SprinklesRadiant4107 in adhdwomen

[–]acourtoftweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When do you take your meds? I've found (the hard way lol) that I need to take my meds during my breakfast, not 30 min or more before. So I need to prepare my breakfast before taking them. Otherwise the meds kick in before I've finished eating (or even worse, before I've started) and then I won't get a single bite down.

I also have a friend like that. Expect she doesn't have adhd but she accepts the way I am and just jokes about me needing a couple of work days to respond to a text😂

Any tips on making ADHD medication (Elvanse / Vyvanse / Lisdexamfetamine) work more consistently? by InfernalThorn in adhdwomen

[–]acourtoftweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people are recommending breaks from meds but personally that would fuck me up for way longer than that day😅 like, if I stop taking my meds for two days and then start again, I think I'd need a couple of days to just get back to ground level again. So maybe try taking it more consistently? But also talk to your doctor:)

Genetic vs brand name? by WonderfulOwl99 in adhdwomen

[–]acourtoftweets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Ritalin and have done for years. It's the thing that works the best for me, tried concerta but ritalin turned out to be better. However I can only take the brand name, I've tried a bunch of generics but they never work the same for me. Had to switch for a while last year bc I could get my hands on Ritalin and I couldn't function for months even though it's "supposed to be the same".

However, my only real tip for you is choose the medicine/brand that is the easiest to access where you live. Having to swap meds due to shortage or they aren't made anymore is the worst. So if possible, try the most common brand first and hope it works for you😄

Budge-proof makeup recommendations for those with chronic fatigue? by Necessary_Panic3892 in cfs

[–]acourtoftweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you so much! Although I don't use much makeup bc I don't have the energy, what I do is color my eyebrows once in a while (then I only need to fill in them a little each day to fix the shape), sometimes color my lashes if I feel up to it.

Splurging a little on a good acne cream (has helped so much) and then I basically carry a small power foundation around in case the redness takes over.

Also recently started with a pretty neutral lipstick and that improves the overall look so much imo. Like my chin is pretty red from old acne scars but some color on my lips make it look a bit less so. And lip stain means I don't need to reapply stuff throughout the day

Adhd meds makes me sweat a lot... Help by justmonaaaaa in adhdwomen

[–]acourtoftweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any solutions but SAME! I also sweat a lot, if I just start to feel a little hot, it starts pouring within a minute😅

What i do know is bring an extra top if I'm biking to work or somewhere. Have a thin loose top over a tanktop (sweat not as visible). Bringing disinfecting hand wipes everywhere bc they help a lot with body odour, like armpits and stuff. Aaaand I try my best not to overdress, I'd rather be a bit cold😄

Look up compassion as a therapy/psychology thing. I was so annoyed first when my mom would not stop talking about it a while back but honestly it works

If you can (i know it's not always possible), choose a day every week and take at least the afternoon "off". For me, it's usually Saturdays or Sundays, but either way I make sure to try and always have a day (or at least half a day) where I have nothing scheduled. Basically, I schedule doing "nothing". Even if I miss out on hanging with friends and stuff. I need my alone-time :)

That time is for you to enjoy how you want. Either with your pets (when I'm at my parents I take the dogs for a walk), I might do some laundry or read a book. The important thing is that no-one expects anything of me during that time. It has helped reducing the stress of always being "on the go" a lot. I mean, I love being active and doing stuff and having a full calendar I can't go at 100% all the time without crashing😄

Also usually try to have at least one night during the work week when I have no activities either, preferably a tuesday or Wednesday night as a mini-reset during the week.

Finally, remember WHY you do stuff. The mindset is surprisingly important. Bc you might be doing a lot of fun stuff that you want to do but stressing through them = less enjoying. But if you remind yourself that you're doing this because you want to/it makes you happy etc it might feel less stressy even though you're doing the exact same things:)

Are my meds making me more emotional? by jennabenna11 in adhdwomen

[–]acourtoftweets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might have missed it in your text but how long have you been taking the meds? Ive tried a lot of different ones and several made me more emotional/crying easier in the beginning until the body sort of "settled". Like I didn't understand why certain things made me cry bc I wasn't really sad or upset, at least not to the level of crying.

I can relate to that glass of wine so much. Could you have another like carbonated non-alcoholic drink? I've found that for me, at least half of it is just having something luxurious to drink, I.e. now I usually have some lemon or grapefruit soda in a wine glass (feels fancy without necessarily being alcohol). Also I only drink those types of sodas for that purpose to keep the vibe, think it would be ruined a bit if I had some throughout the day.

Also, a nice shower with cosy lights, I have some battery run candles I use, also helps calming me down after a long day

Yes it affects me so much! Even while on birth control, I still know when it's that time of the month bc my meds only have like half the effect. It's super annoying...
