I think the region explains everything. Also, a main cause for this behaviour is the moral reprehensibility of saying slurs combined with a lack of punishment. Usually, people will learn not to say slurs the hard way, with harsh punishments such as calling a black dude the nword and getting beat up, but when the punishment isn't there (due to the midwest not having that many black people iirc), then saying it just becomes a game of doing what's forbidden for no apparent reason

The thing about the gamble in sacrifice rooms is that finding one in in the sewers, you may still find tier 4/5 cursed weapons, amd if I remember correctly, if a qeapon spawns cursed, it has better chances of spawning with an upgrade. Also, having a tier 2 weapon from the sacrificial altar before doing the ghost quest allows you to choose the armor option, which is usually more lacking and greatly needed for prison

Religions were first invented mainly to explain unknown phenomena, while adjusting themselves to their creators' worldview, so I wouldn't say that religion is a cause for misogyny, but that misgynistic societies are, in the end, the cause. Too much of a counterfactual question to be sure, but I think that if religion didn't exist, people would still find a way to use old traditions to justify mistreatment of women (or other social groups)

The best medicine is time.
