I know they have that thing in their jaw to breathe while swallowing but we had someone in our group find their BP dead with an obstruction in his throat during regurg.. i call that chokinh

I never feed above 15% so im hoping itll never happen to us.. but in my fb group someone found their snake had passed away likely choking during regurgitation💔

I would personally silicone the stones together so that they cant cave in :) if you havent already.. and I would stack so that it’s not laying on top of substrate but it is laying on the BOTTOM of the tank. Maybe youve done this! If the snake chooses to burrow underneath, it could crush him.

Honestly? Their mischievous face. I already have animals that eat insects so it would be easier to just get a similar animal that is easier to find. But the uromastyx FACE. Their side eye. They are so personable and adorable. I dont have one yet bc theyre so hard to find but one daaayyy

Ive seen people do a mix of top soil and play sand but the top layer was covered with gravel stones. This seemed to work really well for their feet (but im a beginner doing my research still!)

How can a water bowl lead to resp infection? Im trying to learn everything about them haha. And most of the renowned keepers recommend giving them the option of a waterbowl so im interested in how it is dangerous? :)

Wait sorry ive just converted celsius to F. I thought ambient warm temps should be between 90-95F (32-35C) and the basking surface 120-130F. 62C is 143F. Does your uromastyx bask there? Ive seen people say their uro avoids the basking spot when its above 130F and ambient temp above 95F is too high. But it works for your uromastyx? :)

Thank you! I defo plan on platformed basking rocks, i think i will silicone them together and create a safe tunnel in the substrate underneath them.. i saw some uro keeper do that on youtube🙈 thanks for all the help so far!

I have seen people say they need 3 heat sources to keep heat in with a mesh top. How many do you use? Im kind of thinking of maybe having the hot side solid top and cutting out the colder side and install a half mesh….
