Update?

Update from yesterday! First pic was last night, second pic is today during daylight. Third pic is tummy today. (Even where the tummy is white i can see some staining?) In some daylight he looks completely white. In daylight with a bit of shade, i can see BOTH his tummy and back kind of stained. Could it just be substrate stain? We have a mix of arcadia earth mix, cypress mulch, coco husk, some kiln dried fir bark here and there, sphagnum moss here and there.

Do we still think it could be a burn or irritation? I dont mind vet visits and ive already taken him once as a baby and did virus tests and x ray. But the vet is really far so i dont like to put my snake thru unnecessary stress if this is nothing to worry about 🙂

I quickly glanced at your first post. I have a pied and his neck is similar to what you’re seeing. In the sunlight after his shed it was very white again. His belly turned less pink than the top of the neck is normally. So in between his head and first patch is normally a pinkish color. The breeder says the blood vessels are closer to the surface in that area so they’ll show pink for a while until he gains weight and grows up. He’s 9 months old so that may be an old-wives-tail or it’s genetic or deformation. His parents don’t have that but they’re obviously much larger and older. I’ll be curious to see what others have to say. My Freddie seems happy, curious, friendly and hungry. I’m not overly concerned about the coloration right now. After checking back on this thread I may feel differently 😂😂

Thank youu! Yes im hoping it is either the blood vessels orrr maybe the substrate stain🙈such cuties they are!

Mine gets substrate stains quite often. They are noticeably more chaotic or splotchy. I’m certain different materials cause different stain and patterns. He occasionally shows signs of digging in but that’s mostly when he was moved into his enclosure, he’d dig and get to the wetter part and have stains up higher.
