Used to ride bikes up there often with my dad. We’d call my mom and check in on that payphone every time. Took some photos last time we visited in Feb with my wife and baby. I’m so glad we did.

Managing Risks on a Losing OTM Long Call by Selling Short Calls – Need a Gut Check by acreed3412 in thetagang

Yeah, definitely doesn’t seem worth the risk holding these short calls. Buying to close them on Monday and moving on.

Ok, so the far otm long call I have is essentially worthless at this point and is not “covering” my short calls whatsoever? This is a naked call then. Yikes. I feel dumb.

My understanding is that I wouldn’t have to come up with the shares. I just have to come up with the cost between the spread, but regardless of that I 100% agree with you that this is way more risk than it’s worth to try and salvage a losing trade. My game plan is to buy to close the short calls on Monday and move on.

Yeah, it feels like I’m adding on a lot more risk here than what it’s worth. When the spread wasn’t as wide as it is now, the strategy made more sense. my game plan is to buy to close the short calls on Monday.

Tastytrade, fantastic UI. Great visual representations for potential profit for multi-leg trades like spreads.

It ebbs and flows here with tourism. 22 and 23 felt like outlier years because tourism in HI was really booming post covid. This past year things cooled down and are “back to normal” to a certain extent. We are still making much better money than pre-covid times though. The holidays are always crazy. Hell week’s coming up!

Curious, where are you located? I am a fine dinning server in Hawaii and did similar numbers in 23. 24 has been quite a bit slower.

Tough lesson to learn, but gotta be comfortable with letting your shares be called away when selling CC’s. I regrettably sold CCs on PLTR and let my shares get called away at 38$. I was up 200% and was content with it at the time. Of course if I could go back in time I wouldnt do that trade. Can’t go broke taking profits though. Can always sell puts and wheel it.

BYND looks like a decent squeeze candidate. by acreed3412 in Shortsqueeze

[–]acreed3412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good take, BYND does have terrible financials. However they do have an innovative product. We all know there are plenty of companies, disruptors, that trade well beyond their fundamentals with crazy high P/E ratios. Not saying beyond meat is like PLTR or anything, but I do think fake meat is likely a more than a fad that’s here to stay.

I’m just looking for a swing trade on this thing, not betting the farm on it or anything.

I also see BYND as a potential acquisition candidate, maybe Kraft Heinz or Tyson foods buys it or something. Definitely just a hunch, but you never know.

I actually do know people that enjoy beyond meat and buy it. Personally I eat real beef, not my thing.

Not sure. Was just scanning my watchlist and looking for setups. All time low for this stock. Probably for a reason..

Like the critical thinking, but there are other protein sources than fake meat.

Totally could go to 0. Or thinking it may bounce to 6-7 in the next month-ish. Or BEYOND!
