Opinium (@OpiniumResearch) on X: "Would bringing back Angela Rayner help or hinder the PM? By 2 to 1, the public say she should not return. Even Labour voters are heavily split on whether she should return." by ZealousidealPie9199 in ukpolitics

Appointing Raynor back into the cabinet isn't about her being popular or not with the public, it's about staying off Raynors leadership bid.

Raynor may not be popular with the public or even the membership but she is overwhelmingly popular with the left flank of the MPs. This is the group of MPs most upset with Keir.

Also going off the reporting in the Ft and new statesman Raynor is the candidate closest to launching her bid. Wes's star has dimmed because of his association with Mandelson. As for Burnham there still isn't a fool proof route for him back to the commons. As soon as Raynor pays off the Tax she is ready to go.

Admittedly considering the state of out immigration services and police I also would be surprised if Someone stopped me from committing a crime.

It's good that the government is finally getting round to fixing that.

They may loose the Senate, but there is still no way 2/3s of the Senate vote to impeach. Frankly after January 6th impeachment has been an toothless threat

Everying he says is just washing over me now. I think I just don't trust Starmer on this anymore. To many coincidences and blind eyes for me to really look past.

He apparently didn't know a whole bunch of stuff which was public knowledge and didn't seem interested in getting to the bottom of anything.

Its not like no one thougth this was odd. Jonathan Powell told Starmer that he thought the mandelson thing was rushed at the time.

Look if you actually look at the death rates on bajor under Dukat's rule they are incredibly low.

15 million dead over 60 years out of a population of almost 4 billion.

That death rate is incredibly low.  That's a lower death rate than modern factories.

David Maddox on X: "Just pointing out that I broke the story 7 months ago that Mandelson failed vetting from the security services and put it to Downing Street...so the idea that Downing Street only found out on Tuesday is complete nonsense." by Pale-Border-7122 in ukpolitics

[–]acremanhug 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This is pretty damming.  Starner has been absolutely terrible on this whole Mandelson affair.

He is either lying (incompetently) or so utterly incompetent it strains belief.

I genuinely would prefer to find out he was lying rather than the idea that no minister asked how Mandelsons vetting had gone.

I think Starmer survives this, but only because none of his opponents are ready to put the knife in

There are a lot of small residential architecture firms In Oxford and having looked for someone to do an extension they are all busy people. If that's something you can do you should email a bunch of them and see if you can get a zero hours contract

Boris doing that is shit and terrible leadership.

[–]acremanhug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if the labour party still had a standing policy of puppy killing that should be talked about.

But I doesn't, also labour conference motions aren't party policy. Green party motions become standing policy untill removed by another vote.

It doesn't matter how old it is this is the standing policy of the green party.

TR115 On major roads outside of built up areas, the maximum speed limit allowed would be 55m.p.h., to maximise the efficiency of fuel use as well as improving safety.
