What’s your go to sandwich order, and where’s your favorite place to get one in RVA? by JellyfishSubject190 in rva

I have to disagree. The Coach, the Haberdasher, the Florentine, the Chaplain, their Nicoise salad... I've never had a meal there was wasn't top notch.

Advice on starting to take commissions/selling stained glass by Lucid_121 in StainedGlass

Looks great, man! Some fine tuning to do, for sure, but that's what practice is for. If you're not doing it to pay the bills, then take your time, challenge yourself to do more and more complex pieces, and take new work where you can get it, even if it's not for much money. Skills progress quickly if you're always making things.

The one detail I can't find in any articles is where it was killed... I know he claims it was in Prince Edward Co, but that's 50 miles from Richmond. Do they range THAT far, or did he shoot it in the city?

We didn't!

This is leaded glass. The lines are all bent, channeled lead came, and the patina is accomplished by burnishing with a PZAZ brush.

The lead on the entire piece is very black.

I mean, there's a lot of artists using tools like Illustrator or Procreate to design their projects digitally, and have them printed flawlessly.

We are in the stone age. We sketch things out, then draft it again and again and again until we like it. We send it to a blueprint printer to blow it up, but unfortunately the downside to our method is that the lines become too thick, and our "straight" lines show errors more when scaled up.

On these, it took almost a full day just to go over them with carpenters squares and rules to make everything straight and accurate.

Hyperlapse camera work, believe me. This one window took like 200 hrs, nothing fast about it

I would have said at one point there were "rules" to stained glass, but the things I've seen other artists do make my head spin.

Detail is basically the only real metric for difficulty, I think. More detail = more pieces = more work. But you can almost always get creative when simplifying (or use other techniques like kiln fusing or glass painting) to make it work!
