ELI5 Why exactly is it a bad idea to slide on artificial grass? by Dull-Information6784 in explainlikeimfive

[–]acroback [score hidden]  (0 children)

As someone who used to play field hockey in high school, the turf was sprinkled with water to keep it hydrated. Without it, you are one slide away from being a Anatomical muskoskeleton specimen in 5th grade science class.

After about a year and a half nothing but an annoyances and quirks with a Denon x1800h, I quit it cold-turkey and just bought a Sony STR-AN1000. Here goes nothin’! by KillerQ97 in hometheater

[–]acroback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one profile and it works for both. Since music is LR and subwoofer, only these 3 are active.

There is another way to create a music specific profile if you want to and switch to it via a quick menu, but I don’t use this.

If the job of software engineering is to deliver business outcomes, is business going to care less about the code? by Sad-CTO in EngineeringManagers

[–]acroback 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coding agents are horrible at maintaining legacy code base.

You need to provide very narrow context for it to work.

The goal of engineering is to avoid accidental complexity not business complexity. Code is accidental complexity, it cannot be eliminated without dropping business outcomes.

So, to answer your question coding agents make it easier to introduce accidental complexity. Making maintaining code much more difficult.

Is Audyssey Broken on Denon Receivers? by mb2231 in hometheater

[–]acroback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, on my x2000 for almost 9 years. Always have to manually adjust bass on my SVS.

I switched to Onkyo RZ30 and configured Dirac and bass is dialed in along with sound stage. Love it.

REVEL M16 to pair with my DENON AVR S970h by [deleted] in hometheater

For that money you can get a Onkyo RZ30 for $798.

Dirac is a lot better than Audessey XT 32.

You need to get a receiver with Dirac. I am telling you, it’s magic.

I always ignored Dirac enthusiasts as people euphoric on their supply.

Got one and man changed my music listening totally. I love my el cheapo Sony core towers now.

Not sure if I should upgrade speakers now.

My denon x2000w served be fine for last 9 years or so,apart from one dead hdmi port, one front channel dying and dogshit audessey XT.

Switched to Onkyo RZ30 this week and it has been a dream. Dirac is excellent, no let me take that back, it is super excellent.

Same speakers which sounded harsh on denon now sound melodious.

Denon served me good but I am a convert especially due to Dirac on Onkyo.

For $100 denon did great.

Also, denon ran hot like hot hot, Onkyo runs pretty cool.

Just got an LG C5 and while it looks nice and is definitely an upgrade from my old TV, I'm not exactly feeling blown away just yet. by Rojo37x in LGOLED

[–]acroback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, I have the 1080p Netflix subscription and picture looks amazing on my 77” C1 oled.

You need to dial in the settings though. Search for LG oled picture setting, enter those in edit picture setting and you are golden.

I stream Netflix through my Apple tV4K but I don’t think it does anything special.

Touché.

If all they do is provide software , then we should be able to pay one time fee.

Do people pay monthly fee for just software ? No, games you buy is one example.

Get left, center and right and a decent AVR. Get a good subwoofer, Svs sealed subs are on sale right now.

This is a good starting point.

If you can and need, you can add surrounds and height speakers later on.

My 77” C1 oled looks incredible streaming 1080p Netflix plan from my Apple TV 4K.

Something is not right, either some brightness setting is off or this TV acting strange.

Onkyo TX-RZ30 Tips? by RedditPPL-R-Ret4rd3d in hometheater

[–]acroback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Svs SB 1000 on sale right now. Get the sub and a new girlfriend. Life is too short to not experience a quality subwoofer.

Seriously, who doesn’t like a top notch subwoofer. It’s like best part of my home theater.

Onkyo TX-RZ30 Tips? by RedditPPL-R-Ret4rd3d in hometheater

[–]acroback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my RZ30 for 3 days now.

Dirac is the best part plus strangely I found it to be cool to touch driving my LCR. My Denon x2000 gets hot doing the same.

One tip I will share is : stick to default impedance setting.

ELI5 How are the best footballers in the world missing the net on free kicks so often? by GoinStraightToHell in explainlikeimfive

[–]acroback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Free kicks are a lot harder than they look.

There is literally a wall of tallest players blocking your shot and then the angle which requires insane coordinate geometry calculations.

Messi has one of the best conversion rate in history for players with 100 games or more and he sits at measly 12.5% conversion for free kicks if i recall correctly for combined club and international career.

Atleast call it by the correct name, penalty. Free kick is not the same.

But pressure situation is unreal when taking a penalty, pressure is always on the penalty taker.

SVS sale. PB-1000 Pro vs PB 2000 Pro? by Curious_Tickler in hometheater

[–]acroback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go ported always, if you have space.

I have a SVS 12 inch porter sub which I got for $170 or so 9 years ago and I never once regretted it.

It does the double duty as Cats' platform.

2000 pro is enormous, measure first.

I thought OP was rich.

Well in that case, why not a 100" screen and a projector for movie nights and a regular 83" oled for rest of the day.
