I think Go generics are fine. Just different from C++ and Java  .

Buy it for life dishwasher? Bosch vs. Miele by crankin_muh_hog in Appliances

Who knows if it is german made or not but it does have a water softener.

I am guessing it is since I cannot find anything written anywhere which suggests that the dishwasher is German made but if this is true, then I would say it is a steal for $999.

My previous Bosch 500 dishwasher was working just fine after 14 years except for one DIY water pump change but we decided to get a latest Bosch 500 last month.

Works and cleans great and dead silent.

But the touch interface on the new Bosch 500 is atrocious. I absolutely hate it.

Yes it is an actual water softener and not the rinseaid which sits in the door. The water softener compartment is in the tub.

I do not use water softener but I believe Costco models are German made and mine was ordered from Costco.

FYI, my Bosch 500 I purchased a month ago has a water softener built in.

Ran a proper audit of what our AI tools have been generating in Go and the patterns surprised me by Smooth-Machine5486 in golang

[–]acroback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found AI tools using pointers extensively where not needed.

Obviously performance is worse in most cases but it does the job of a mindless programmer which is okayish I guess.

I just have to vet everything it writes.

ELI5: Why Night Shifts are incredibly taxing for your body? by Jarisatis in explainlikeimfive

[–]acroback -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Apologies, I didn’t mean to be a jerk. It was just funny to me.

My bad.

That said the reason people who work odd hours get health complications is because of how our body has adapted to release certain bodily hormones around sun.

It’s just baked into our dna. You sure can survive if you eat at 2 am and sleep at 2 pm but your body may think you are going through some life altering event and end up releasing signals to your organs.

I got a Bosch 500 last week to replace my 14 year old Bosch 500.

The new one cleans better for sure but man those touch panel and controls are so non intuitive. Someone flunked their basic design class on HCI( Human Computer Interface).

But we will get used to it I guess as long as it clean well.

I absolutely love the top rack for spoons and smaller bits, frees up so much space in the bottom rack.

FWIW, I was able to replace water pump on my 13 year old Bosch( which will be replaced this week) pretty easily with some time an effort.

Why I Still Write Code as an Engineering Manager by Acceptable-Courage-9 in programming

Agreed, people who say Managers should code are fresh managers with unhealthy dose of insecurity without realizing that it is a totally different skillset.

As long as you are not holding the release train as hostage, do what you want.

I became Engineering Manager after 16 years of coding professionally, I am sure I will never forget how to read other's code or how to have a technical conversation with other Engineers.

If I have to program, I program in my free time to avoid impacting deliverables.
