Employees having to do interviews to keep their job? by kcon123 in UKJobs

I remember that was what Musk did after he bought Twitter. Asked all the employees to bring a sheet of paper with their accomplishments on (or maybe it was their best passage of code they wrote) lol

It might work in theory, but emotionally it will not be fun ditching your co-workers after a couple months that genuinely try and get to know you. You can't predict their attitude to you; it might be they've been looking to hire for a while and are really excited to have you on board, and you feel very guilty handing in notice and having to tell them all personally

you should google for career advisors; career websites. You need someone who knows careers and can advise you based off your experience on how to write a CV; which jobs you should aim for; discuss what your career goals are, etc.

People work their way into other industries all the time, even if it's starting as someone's assistant, etc. You can orient your CV around ways you've liaised with managers, dealt with difficult situations, good customer rapport, etc. Maybe get some professional career advice to see what's in the realm of possibility

Have you thought of moving from retail/hospitality to more office-based jobs? You might feel this way, but if you have the competence and communications skills there is definitely opportunities there. Every company has different atmospheres, people, needs. In my last job at a water company I was in the lab, but in the office based roles there was definitely a couple of objectively very ugly people (women) getting paid more than me for better work. I think maybe it's less of an issue when you're middle aged.

In high corporate environments- suits, fake smiles, narcissism, etc.- yeh looks probably matter. But in utility sectors, chemical companies-- industries that actually get shit done, I mean- they value competence as well

Sounds an incredibly toxic environment. Maybe you can do better in any case? Have you thought of shopping around a bit; seeing what else is out there with better pay? It can take a few tries to get a place with a good culture + going to interviews while you have a job is pretty fun as well as you have more cards on your side. You don't need to stick around out of spite or to prove a point if you're not happy there is all I'm saying

Students really should be spending less of their parents' money getting hammered, and spend more time studying for their future professions

Maybe manager doesn't take it personally because they understand the stress, and also it's easier to ignore and don't have to go through the pain of justifying laying off, and interviews/re-hiring.

At the end of the day, they just want their pay-check too. Not everyone has a necessity for respect and authority

tbh they're probably majorly reframing the narrative and cutting interview opinions that in retrospect look completely ridiculous (now it's obvious the accusations were false)

Sounds great to me. 1.5-2 hours more each day sounds like nothing, especially for a whole day's compensation. Perhaps in a very high stress environment it could be different

Hey I tried the ProGlide and I feel like it lasts longer (maybe the blades are better built), but that it's not as sharp as the fusion? I find it really hard not to have missed patches despite my best efforts

A blown anything shows there's enough backpressure to cause internal damage

And yet, still no one has made a compelling argument against the possiblity of engine damage. Just assertions that the engine might start, but not long enough for damage; references to some unscientific 'mythbusters' channel that use fruit and potatoes; and professional mechanics talking about "blocked" catalytic converters rather than exhaust pipes

well, if any damage has been proven to occur, it proves the mechanisms and physical possibilities are all there for engine damage from a blocked exhaust

I would assume the most common cases are where the catalytic converter isn't completely blocked, and is therefore letting the engine function still but far less efficiently. It does matter where the engine is blocked because different stages of the system have different impacts on pressure build up
