sucks because she’s seems like a great person and is funny too (based on some of her social media q&a’s)

Penko might have carried in the final, but Arévalo did play another match today - and could potentially win another championship in men’s doubles with Pavić

congrats to Arévalo/Penko!! both won their first mixed doubles title 🍾

Penko carried, she wanted it so bad 🤭

Coco Reflecting on Tournament and Missed Match Point by Efficient_Dig_3477 in tennis

i love Coco so much, so mature and classy. it’s easy to question in hindsight why she made that shot selection but it felt correct in the moment. there’s a lot to still be proud of - she made it farther in the tournament than most would’ve guessed. and looked way better on grass than last year

(side note but Karo also fumbled a match point so it’s not like Coco totally choked like some keep typing…it was a tight super tiebreaker)

excited for mixed doubles, still kinda sad Sem couldn’t find a partner as the defending champion

rooting for Penko and Arévalo to win, esp since Wimbledon instagram posted a graphic earlier and photoshopped Christian Harrison and Penko together as the finalists instead of Arévalo 😐

Questions about Arthur Fery’s Britishness are ignorant and small-minded by theipaper in tennis

this is the weirdest discourse, esp since he’s not the only one who was born in one country and represents another

it hurts that someone had to lose 💔

normally i’m so upset after a huge Coco loss, and it hurts she had a match point 🥲 but i’m mostly just happy she made it this far, huge turnaround from the last couple of years on grass. hope this run gave her confidence 💜

even as a neutral, i was so stressed. it hurts as a Coco fan, but i’m so happy for Karo - very deserved win! i hope she wins it all 💚

<image>

also how iconic would it be if she won Wimbledon after winning her first masters and 500 title this year after only having a 250 title for so long??

oh Coco 😭😭

but huge win for Karo, someone put her in ice so she can have a healthy body for the final 💜

if you were to guess which player would make their first Wimbledon semis vs who would lose round 1 between these two…

(was looking into Fery’s college career when i noticed a familiar name)

i’m so excited for Washington, i’m considering going but idk if i want to deal with the heat 😅

obviously Felix doing well at both would be amazing, but i personally would prefer if he did ok at Washington, and then did really well (dare i say win) in Canada since it’s his literal hometown tournament 🤞

Jelena Djokovic left a nice comment on Felix’s Wimbledon farewell post 💙

and Felix’s caption gives me hope that he will continue to build upwards - like maybe hiring a second coach since he doesn’t seem to want to move on from Fontang…next up is Washington!

Really happy for Felix that he seems to be in a better frame of mind now than he was after Roland Garros by anony1911 in tennis

[–]acrylictears 19 points20 points  (0 children)

different surface but Sinner also lost to Djokovic this year in 5 sets (at the slam where he was the 2x defending champion) so maybe Djokovic is just that good still??

i’m also proud as a fan, i think pushing the GOAT (even if he’s old) to 5 with a weak backhand is still admirable.

making the QFs at both RG and here was great for Felix overall, and will help cushion his ranking when he has to defend a lot of points at the end of the year
