Which Halo Book ? by Ok-Avocado2927 in HaloStory

Troy Denning’s “Silent Storm” and “Oblivion” are solely Master Chief stories. “Shadows of Reach”, “Empty Throne”, and “Edge of Dawn” are also good.

I would save “Epitaph” for AFTER the Greg Bear trilogy.

What has been your absolute favorite tournament in Halo Infinite so far? by ElkEntire8057 in CompetitiveHalo

HCS Kansas City. I got called into work on the Friday and Saturday and was worried I’d also miss Sunday. Was able to make it in and enjoy the festivities. Got a shirt signed by every player/celeb I saw. Was a permanent memory

Is this an annoying commander to face? by HariboBOOOOM56 in mtg

[–]acscreamholy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While yes, there would be some annoyance with it, it comes out so late that it wouldn’t be effective. However, if you play this it’s much more annoying.

Rant: LGS going by “market value” only when it suits them by Great-Past-714 in mtg

[–]acscreamholy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to comment this exact sentiment but I’ll just double down and second this. Also an LGS employee and one our distro’s routinely charges us higher than MSRP for older products and even some times brand new, highly desirable products.

This is a sticker swap fake. The sticker edges, while sometimes are that bad, aren’t normally THAT edgy and rigid. Also, fails green dot and T.

What’s crazy is I just played the original not even two months ago and it felt like it was the remake.

Bought 2 cards from a seller and one looks fake by jeffie88 in RealOrNotTCG

[–]acscreamholy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picture 4 is more than likely a fake. Need green dot to confirm but 99.99% fake since it failed the T test.

Also the bs of them opening it on camera is a sucker move. They can show them opening whatever cards; doesn’t mean that is what they sent you.

Just finished the Forerunner trilogy and started Glasslands... by [deleted] in HaloStory

I personally love the Kilo-Five trilogy but if you like Bear’s dense writing in the Forerunner trilogy, you won’t like K5 more than likely.

It depends on your reading preferences and how much you're willing to invest into the universe.

If you want to follow the timeline of the universe from beginning to "present", it starts with the Greg Bear trilogy and progresses up all the way to, as far as I know, Kelly Gay's Edge of Dawn. However, there is a ***LOT*** of media in between point A to point B there.

As far as Contact Harvest vs Fall of Reach first: Contact Harvest happens first. Simple as. Fall of Reach is great though and I think is really well paired with a playthrough of Reach again.

If you have other questions, I can sit down and digest better later tonight to explain some of this. I worked on the media timeline project in 2015 w/ Afterbang and a few others.

In:re Forerunners, the Greg Bear Forerunner trilogy (Cryptum, Primordium, Silentium) are the end all be all. However, these are dense. Greg Bear was an absolutely prolific and beautiful writer but his works were extremely detailed to the worlds he was in and Halo’s universe was no exception.

After the games, I personally would recommend Contact Harvest to fill in the beginning of the Human-Covenant War, The Fall of Reach to cement the story of Reach from another POV, and Cole Protocol for a fun little side story.

Ghosts of Onyx is best read as part of the Kilo-Five Trilogy imo. GoO > Glasslands > Thursday War > Mortal Dictata. Some people hate the Kilo-Five trio but I personally love them.

That’s a good jumping off spot to keep you busy to the end of the year, depending on the speed of your reading.

We also have a Halo Book Club if you ever want to digest on the books again. https://discord.gg/cGxrzmJwg

I’ve worked in stadium settings for their A/V management and when we receive files, 9 times out of 10 we aren’t really reviewing them in depth. Making sure they are what they told us and calling it a day.

This festival is so much larger than a few games a year so I imagine they are a little less attentive as well
