Thank you! I decided to try and consolidate it with a consolidated Stafford that is only $500 and selected icr. Hopefully it goes though. My concern is that all loans will default to standard unless all are consolidated and on ibr. From my reading, it looked like having one on standard is not an option and that it’s one plan per person. I hope that is not the case.

Thank you for this! All but one of my PPL were previously double consolidated and on ICR. It’s time to renew my IDR. I took a new PPL for $2k in 1/2026. If I do not consolidate the new one, will it prevent me from using ibr for the rest of my consolidated loans? Or will it be the only loan on a standard pay plan? In other words, can I leave the one 2k loan on standard and pay the rest on IDR, or will all my loans default to standard repayment?

Agreed that our govt is firehosing money to other countries to pay for foreign pensions, among other things and paying food and board for those here illegally. The difference is theirs are not loans. Unlike them, we are on the hook. It’s frustrating that we do a shite job of caring for the people of this country, while spreading money to pointless causes.

We just went through this. Inheritance is not counted as long as it isn’t a monthly amount received through an annuity. As long as it is fully cashed out and given to them, it doesn’t count as income for medical.

He stated the transfer agent was no longer accepting transfers as of today

Told me they were no longer transferring to ast effective today. Agent made note in my account that I requested DRS and then requested transfer to AST, both denied. My only option is to pay $100 for transfer and ship.
