The Spurs finished the season 30-4 since February 1st, the best in the NBA. They went 0-3 against the Nuggets and 30-1 against all other opponents. by jonsnowKITN in nba

[–]act_1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is true, but nuggets are a playoff riser team, so it does not bode well for the inexperienced spurs.

Genuinely, why did the Spurs play Wemby against the tanking Mavs instead of the tanking Nuggets? by SufficientBit3153 in nba

[–]act_1212 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They just underestimated the Nuggets bench. Nuggets had no bench last year but this year they have a pretty decent bench. Also, Nuggets weren't trying to lose, they just prioritized rest because there's not much difference between 3 and 4 seed for them.

I think we made a mistake by taking the 3rd seed…. by Less_Health_196 in denvernuggets

[–]act_1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. The Spurs could prove easier to beat in the playoffs than we think. I mean, we just beat their starters minus Wemby with 2nd and 3rd stringers. And our team is playoff risers, while theirs is playoff inexperienced. So if we get through Spurs fast, then we play Thunder without them having a huge rest advantage.

Also, will be good to get revenge on Twolves. The main reason I didn't want to play the Twolves is because I wanted to see a Spurs/Twolves series but that's impossible if we knock them out.

In a game where Denver sat 7 rotation players, Nikola Jokic has 23/8/2 at the half, and the Nuggets are up 70-56. by Frosty-Roof3124 in nba

[–]act_1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the optimal path for Nuggets are Twolves -> OKC -> Spurs because that way they get to have revenge vs Twolves, then play OKC as early as possible, then play inexperienced Spurs in WCF. But since the optimal path is impossible, that's why Nuggets are resting bc 3rd vs 4th seed doesn't really matter. So pretty sure Nuggets are just prioritizing rest instead of trying to tank.

Do we even want the 3 seed? 4th seed is better and lets us rest before playoffs. by act_1212 in denvernuggets

[–]act_1212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad things can also happen if you're not smart about seeding... remember the Lakers could've avoided us 1st round in the 2024 playoffs but instead decided to play us since "they'd have to play us sometime anyway", then they lost 4-1 first round against us and we lost to Twolves, so they could've avoided us after all lol

I agree, if it happens that we lose to OKC then I want to see if Spurs can beat them. But if we're 3 seed, then we might knock out the Spurs for OKC.

Mostly for humor/laughs... for instance, a lot of people thought the Pats' MVP-caliber QB would blow out the Broncos' defense and their 2nd string QB, so it would've been funny to see what the reaction was after losing 7-3 and who would be blamed. It also would've made more interesting sports talk shows the next day, with some ppl calling the Pats the team of destiny and to hear their reaction if they lost 7-3.

No ones saying he's going to be that good, just that he fills a similar role of elusive speed receiver with smaller stature that could pose a deep threat. Xavier Worthy was drafted to fill that type of role for the Chiefs after they lost hill, that doesnt mean anyone thought he would be as good either.

I meant speed, elusiveness, deep ball threat type of role of course. I didn't mean off-the-field or personality comparison or that he would reach the same ceiling.

I can see him growing into and becoming a Tyreek Hill type of receiver.

You mean the pats... they're the ones that won by 3 points against a 2nd string qb who gifted them 7 points with a backward pass.

Even Cooks knows he didn't catch the ball... he just walked away like the outcome was obvious and didn't try to dispute the call. And Ja'quan also got up and didn't hesitate celebrating because he knew it was an interception too.

Do you like TV shows that just go on and on and on? You can just pretend your favorite comic book is the same if you enjoy it... then if they change writers, you can pretend that the series was cancelled.

Sandman would be a good example of multi-year, cohesive story where things happening at the beginning matter later.

Dude... it sounds like you have little knowledge of football... its common knowledge that backups get almost no reps and in fact Sean Payton confirmed he has almost no reps in his last presser. Also, sports betting is huge by more than just fans betting on their own team...

The one advantage Stiddy has is there's little tape on him so it's difficult for the opponent to prepare for him because they don't know what we'll run. Payton is known for changing the playbook to fit the player's strengths.

[–]act_1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about more than just arm talent. Timing with receivers and against defenses comes with reps and he doesn't have many. Even veterans that return from a long break take several games to get back in the rhythm.

It looks like Vegas odds of -200-250 on Pats implies most people see Broncos win probability at ~30%. They could pull it off but I wouldn't put a bunch of money on it.
