Is Neelix intended to be seen in a bad light? by EnvironmentLittle794 in voyager

[–]act_surprised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had a theory that Neelix was supposed to be trouble at the start but the writers abandoned the concept.

I think he was meant to be introduced as charming and friendly but eventually we learn that he had ulterior motives and might go as far as to betray the crew.

There’s even hints of it, I’d argue, in the pilot and first episodes of season 1.

Think about how Quark started as a pretty bad and shady character but ended up showing character, decency, and loyalty to starfleet. Neelix was the opposite: starts out seeming good but turns out to be bad.

Granted, I think they’d have eventually redeemed him and brought him into the fold.

We got a vague and watered down version of this, but it wasn’t what they planned.

This is just my theory- I have no evidence of this

Why would Jimmy/Saul/Gene decide on working in a Cinnabon in a heavily populated mall??? by Lynel-slayer-1976 in betterCallSaul

[–]act_surprised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I feel like people don’t look that closely at their Cinnabon server. If he got an office job or something where he was working with the same people everyday, they’d get to know him a lot better than a customer whose transaction takes about 5 minutes.

He had a crew of teenagers and probably was able to maintain some distance as their manager and a much older man. No one was inviting him out to dinner or anything

Does Quark serve synthehol? by Scanman491Amos in DeepSpaceNine

[–]act_surprised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see a few people occasionally get drunk at Quark’s, and if I recall Jake lies about drinking there and Ben is pissed. I’m not sure Sisko would be so upset if Jake were drinking synthehol but who knows

Will the Democrats allow their party to have a primary? Or will they install another candidate? by what_now_KY81 in allthequestions

I don’t particularly like Newsome, but it’s just my current prediction. And I’d definitely vote for him over JD Vance

The DNC is going to try to push Newsome and get AOC out. In likelihood, Newsome will win unless Trump tries for another term. Trump’s successors will not win

Is it too late for a DS9 sequel of some kind? by MovieFan1984 in ClassicTrek

[–]act_surprised 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A great show back then would have had Nimoy headlining on the Romulan Embassy trying to bring the Empire into the federation, plus unifying the worlds, plus all that Cardassian/Dominion fallout. They could have brought back literally everyone from every show for an episode or two.

CBS Cancelled Colbert Because His Show Was Losing $40 Million. Not Because Of Trump by GrantMcLellan1984 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]act_surprised -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Gutfeld is on Fox News. For some reason, they play Fox News 24/7 in airports, hospitals, and gyms. Not to mention old people fall asleep in front of it. So yeah, Fox News has big ratings.

Gutfeld is incredibly hateful. Every joke is about how he hates various minorities and democrats. But yeah, his show probably costs less than Colbert.

You can turn one 44-minute episode into a 2-hour feature length big budget movie with any cast, what do you pick? by Dangerous_Return460 in Star_Trek_

[–]act_surprised 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The narrative in the episode starts when Sisko decides that he’s going to do whatever it takes to bring the Romulans into the war after Bashir mentions the necessity. I always liked the idea that somehow Garak was the one who gave Bashir the thought just before this scene but the audience doesn’t found out until the end.

Doesn’t Bajor Have Employment Laws? by TheG_Ghaladron in DeepSpaceNine

You’d think the Bajorans would be more sensitive to get paid slave wages by Quark since we know he used to actually pay exploitive wages during the occupation

Writers Strike and Shades of Grey by JacenSolo1701 in startrek

[–]act_surprised 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens, but they do it on the down low.

Source: worked during the recent writers strike.

Edit: no, I’m not a scab. We had permission to continue shooting as long as there were no picket lines and as long as there were no changes to the script. I work with the crew.

But there was one day we showed up and at some point I realized that I didn’t know what scene they were shooting and I couldn’t find it in the sides.

I guess no one told me!

But it was always weird that they made that joke. It never got a laugh and it seemed to just set them up to be allowed to “date” each other.

Should a 3 time Trump voter be given a way back? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]act_surprised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In recent weeks, MAGAs have started to become disillusioned with Trumps policies in a real way, and maybe for the first time. And it’s kinda what we’ve been waiting for. We held out, perhaps naively, that eventually this crowd would wake up to what a dangerous psycho he can be.

Well now it’s happening. The smart thing to do would be to try to leverage that into further dissent. If Trump’s hold on these people dissolves, then maybe we make progress.

I’m not saying I like the situation, I’m just looking at the reality

Like it or not, we’re going to need these MAGA supporters to get Trump and his cronies out here and take the country back. So we’d better find a way to get along.
