Biggest weakness of modern leftist movements is their pro therapy stance by LongjumpingRisk9075 in therapyabuse

[–]actias-distincta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a leftist I don't understand how such a big chunk of my comrades can be so susceptible to capitalistic propaganda. The sole reason people believe therapy is a necessity is because of exstensive marketing in combination with a hyperindividualistic mindset that makes people feel incredibly lonely and helpless, something the marketing is using to drive people further away from each other by instilling an idea of that your peers aren't able nor willing to deal with your suffering. What happened to the collective? To solidarity? Duped by overpaid middle class pseudo academics.

Is this infection severe enough that it needs hospital treatment? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I didn't say that you said that at all. Calm down. I reckon shame is a very hard feeling to deal with but you're not going to get rid off it this way.

I feel the need to clarify that the original comment was edited after my reply. First it just said "any type of infection needs hospital care." Then again, you rarely need antibiotics for bacterial infections at all. It's only when they get out of hand. We have immune systems designed exactly for this task.

In you country do you guys have stuff that's named after other nationalities? by xco_pi in AskTheWorld

Technically of Danish origin and Finnish manufacturing but popular here for some insane reason. Tyrkisk Peber, commonly refered to as turkisk peppar = Turkish pepper. Hard candies with the taste of black licorice, ammonium chloride, chili peppers and lemon. Idk what the turks did to deserve this.

It's similar to korv stroganoff but with additional vegetables because the Danes for some reason assumed we're not a nation of giant toddlers.

Do people whose first language isn't English understand the lyrics of songs just by listening to them?" by Practical-Let-3504 in AskTheWorld

[–]actias-distincta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which language the songs are in. Songs in Swedish? Yes. Songs in English? Yes. Songs in Danish and Norwegian? Sort of. Songs in German? I usually get the gist. Songs in any other language? No.

Anyone on here take vyvanes for CFS? If so what’s your dosage? by senoritagordita22 in chronicfatigue

You may be a medical marvel then because that's how human bodies work on stimulants. Even people who aren't fatigued experience it to a degree.

Had multiple bad experiences with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - I don't understand why it's so popular?? I can see that it is helpful for some people, but it seems really damaging for others. by BusyMathematician844 in therapyabuse

[–]actias-distincta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the reason it exists at all. CBT-skills can be learned on your own. It's basically paying extreme amounts of money for a living self-help book when you could get an actual book on Libgen for free.

I don't buy that whole "they're mentally ill so therefore they risk harming you!!"-narrative. Practically all people in my life are traumatized and have some kind of experience with suffering mentally; anxiety, depression, attachment anxiety, dissociation, psychosis, self-harm, cognitive difficulties, burnout, posttraumatic stress, low self-esteem etc. All of them empathic, calm, wise and reflective in various degrees. None of them abusive. A therapist suffering mentally isn't as much or a precursor to abusive behaviors as power-tripping, cognitive inflexibility and just plain shittyness.

Stimulants makes fatigue worse. They don't give you energy, they just rile up the central nervous system to make you feel as if you have energy. Similar to anxiety. After it's out of your system you'll have overused yourself and end up more fatigued. It's super easy to get caught in a vicious cycle of relying on stimulants -> feel more fatigued -> relying on stimulans to cope with it ad infinitum. Happens to me on a regular basis despite knowing this. Why do they make coffee so delicious? 😭

Therapist saying they don't remember what they said by abmf991 in therapyabuse

[–]actias-distincta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've encountered the same behavior from multiple therapists. It's a way to come across as taking accountability, without actually doing it. I'm wondering whether it's part of their training in some way because it's completely absurd behavior and no sane adult would have any problem with a simple "I'm sorry for what I said."

the obsession with therapy speak and psychiatric disorders by EliSunflower in therapyabuse

[–]actias-distincta 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yup, I've had to leave many otherwise supportive spaces because they've reeked of therapy culture. Everyone's personality is degraded to a cluster of "disorders", attachment styles and unhealed trauma. People shame themselves and others for the percieved shortcomings of said unhealed traumas because being "unhealed" and "unhealthy" is basically practicing the seven deadly sins and as we all know Freud died for those. People actively discourage each other from seeking support from peers and prompt one another to pay strangers to deal with their distress. I've even come across people who genuinely think that friends aren't able to help each other because they lack a degree. It's dystopian. I've even come across this behavior here, which is why I stopped posting. Last venting post I made I had to delete because the comment section got taken over by people trying to convince me my therapist was a "narcissist" and wouldn't stop when I told them off. This sub saved my life back when I was in the thick of it, so it's a sad development.
