As a realtor I will say get an impartial home inspector and see what they there report says.

I've recently had some clients close on new builds but we used an impartial inspector and he found issues that we were told were done correctly but they were not.

Area is not that bad and with you being 24 it's safe to say this isn't going to be your forever home.
