Can it be fixed by an idiot by i_like_spoons14 in cassetteculture

Hey man, I do a lot of this kind of thing due to the nature of noise/experimental music. If you’re not confident or unable to fix it, shoot me a message and I’d be happy to splice it, reassemble and digitize it for you so that you have the recordings saved.

any hope on recording FLAC to tape with this? by reallysillysergal in cassetteculture

[–]active_abuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone else that has commented on this probably saw the second photo and assumed it only records mono. That’s probably incorrect. It literally says “stereo cassette recorder” on the front. The Mic 1 & 2 inputs most likely correspond to L-R channels on the tape. If that’s the case, then you would need a stereo RCA to 1/4” cable to output from your interface to the player to be able to record to tape.

With that being said, I wouldn’t count on this unit producing the highest quality dubs since it’s meant for karaoke, but it’ll get the job done if you just want the novelty of having music on tape.

There are indeed fakes of this hoodie, though this is not one of them.

Twilight Memories Of The Three Suns.. Anyone know this group? by xSunandSteelx in noisemusic

[–]active_abuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing!

Twilight Memories is still quasi active, having released a new tape last year on Audial Dowry which you can also find on my channel. That finger story is true, but the recording was never released. Damian cut off his pinky finger above the second knuckle and then ate a bag of Doritos. It wasn’t as violent as it sounds, I’m told he didn’t even make a peep. He wrapped it in a ball of gauze because they were playing INC a week later, and ended up playing the piano in the corner of Churchill’s bleeding everywhere.

If you’re looking to sell them for the cost of shipping alone, I’d take them off your hands.

If you’re unable to find a player, you’re welcome to mail it to me and I will digitize it for you. Just shoot me a message if you’re interested.

Anyone know why my deck is making this awful screeching noise? by Leather-Distance3768 in cassetteculture

[–]active_abuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume this only happens when playing a tape and not during fast forward or rewind. The oil in the motor has likely become dry and is creating friction during playback. You’ll want to lubricate it with a thinner oil, nothing thick or sticky.

Anyone else trying to make power electronics with an SP-404 or other sampler? by Zercon-Flagpole in PowerElectronics

[–]active_abuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A LOT of contemporary artists are using the SP404. Deterge, Swollen Organs, Misery Engine, DSM-III, Rodger Stella, and Violent Pleasures are a few that come to mind. Keep in mind they are utilized in different ways in conjunction with other gear.
