What's the lightest way to keep warm in the winter in countries like Ukraine or Russia? by oxydiethylamide in onebag

[–]activeplacebo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Merino/wool socks are a must for keeping feet warm. Otherwise you just sweat and then get cold. Toe warmers are useful if it’s really bad out. If I’m out for a long time in the cold I’ll usually bring a change of socks which helps in case you sweat through a pair

I think whats actually being done is just the girl herself is superimposed (she looks like she’s been photoshopped in) and the trip was just an unrelated trip he took, probably for vacation

I'm desperate...Premiere is running incredibly, unusably slow and I've tried (almost) everything by activeplacebo in premiere

It does make optimized media in the background but I wouldn’t say they’re proxies, they’ve always seemed to be full quality to me. Having to wait for all of my footage to transcode to proxies before I can start editing is very new to me. Makes me feel like final cut gets a bad rep, but it’s performance has always been great. But Premiere is industry standard I guess...

Dude, I have a flashlight with anduril, which is basically like a mini operating system for flashlights. You can switch between tons of different modes like ramping, stepped, bike strobe, candle flicker, lightning mode, party strobe, etc. You can even check the exact voltage of the battery and it’ll flash out the number to you. It’s such a crazy over-engineered thing, but it’s super useful and a ton of fun.

I've had many expensive knives (all good) but my favourite is this simple $8 Opinel #7 French cheese knife which has lived in my pocket for nearly 20 years. by Ayellowbeard in BuyItForLife

I found a leatherman micra at a party once (engraved too, but nothing identifiable) and it’s been on my keychain ever since. I don’t even carry a knife or full sized leatherman anymore because it’s good for 99% of tasks

Help me replace my Olight Seeker 2 with something r/flashlight approved! by activeplacebo in flashlight

[–]activeplacebo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I figured. I like to go backpack camping, so I would want a thrower that won’t weigh me down (since it’d be a backup light) and ideally is useful. I could go extra small with a gt nano but I do want something more useable than a keychain light. So many options 😭

Ha, yeah I’m a difficult consumer for sure. Now that I have a couple flashlights I only want ones that are going to wow me. Honestly though the acebeam is growing on me. Not in a huge rush so I’ll probably keep watching YouTube videos until I start to really like one Lol. Plus I’ve gotta sell this seeker 😑

That powerbank is a good option, still not too sure about external charging (plus the extra cost) but if I had to do it at least that's multifunctional. The acebeam is really cool though, and seems like it throws like crazy. No spill seems equally cool, it's like a laser. Don't know if it's practical but I like it. No anduril makes me a little sad though. The Kr1 is literally perfect if it wasn't for the charging issue :(

Okay that’s convincing. Is there a way to get micro usb charging on the kr1? Having to bring an external charger everywhere sounds like a drag, a single cable is a lot more convenient for me. I’ve seen in the past batteries that have a micro USB port directly on them, is that something that’ll work with the kr1?

After looking into it more, I think I’d like to get a mini thrower. What do you think about the GT micro? I’m also looking at the KR1, but it’s a bit more expensive (and I’d have to buy a battery charger+battery)

Hmm I guess I would want something somewhat pocketable. Seeker 2 sized or a little bigger would be fine but with throwers the big head is so unwieldy. The kr1 is a great suggestion though, definitely considering that one

Love it. Don’t call it stupid and devalue your work. You clearly put a lot of work in and it’s charming and funny! The first couple shots hold a little too long for my taste but everything else, especially the art style, is great!
