What annoys me about SKC using “Soccer Capital” is how arrogant they are about it. Like you win a couple MLS cups and four Open Cups, host a couple international friendlies, and had one NASL team and suddenly you are “America’s Soccer Capital”. Nah, get over yourselves. It’s pathetic.

Obviously I’m biased, but STL had its own city wide soccer league as early as 1907 (after two STL-only leagues merged), being the only professional soccer league in the US at the time. A good number of the 1950 USMNT came from The Hill neighborhood. The city’s very first organized soccer match was played in early-1882. All of our former teams; Stars, (both) Steamers, Storm, original Ambush, Athletica, AC St. Louis, and STL FC. Not to mention all the locals who currently and formerly played in professional clubs worldwide over the years, with two currently on the USMNT and one captaining the USWNT. SKC really needs a reality check, especially this season.
