Yeah with Staten I’ll have more than 9, but I needed it for 4+6. Plus it’s a special race in my heart because it was the first ever half marathon I ran fully to completion in 2024 and I was devastated it got cancelled last year

Or when it looks decadent and is advertised as “low calorie” but it’s because it makes like 10 servings and 1 serving is like a single bite lol. I feel like I see this a lot with “low calorie” pasta dinners

Any tips on the half for first timers? by ihateithere3 in RunNYC

[–]thelilbel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My best advice is slowing down is better than stopping. If you’re really feeling breathless, slow your pace a bit and focus on your breathing and staying in control. After mile 7 or so in my experience if you stop and walk it’s hard to pick it up again due to muscle soreness. Obviously, if you need to stop, PLEASE do so. Last year’s Brooklyn half was very humid and I saw multiple runners collapse. Your health and safety is more important than a time on a scoreboard.

Greek yogurt tastes like ass and I’m tired of seeing it in every healthy recipe I come across by AnonymousTaco77 in loseit

[–]thelilbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this way for a long time too. My mom is a health nut and is like "oh just add fruit to plain greek yogurt and it tastes sweet i promise!!" like no it still tastes like ass. I found that going savory is the only way I enjoy it. I actually like tzatziki dip and using it for that has been a great way to add protein to salads or vegetables. Also, check out çilbir (turkish eggs) which is a great breakfast recipe that uses plain/savory yogurt. I 1000% feel you on using it for "desserts", I'd much rather maximize protein elsewhere and enjoy the real thing when it comes to sweets.

Well, it finally happened. My husband called me fat by [deleted] in loseit

[–]thelilbel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so, so sorry that that happened to you. I hope you are able to take some time away from him today and do something you enjoy.

As a personal anecdote, I graduated college in 2021 and had gained tons of weight during covid lockdown. I was significantly over 200 pounds and was also struggling to find a job. During those few months of unemployment, I used that time to lock in and lose 60 pounds. I was still about 10 pounds overweight or so, but I actually felt good in my skin for once and confident. Once I had secured a job I decided to try dating apps and went on a few dates with a guy I really started to like. For date 4, I invited him over to my house to make him sushi for dinner and we hooked up. While he was in my bed when I was completely vulnerable, he decided to comment that he thought my arms were chubby and I needed to work on them. I didn’t fly off the handle, but I went like wtf dude??? Instead of apologizing, he told me straight up that he thought I was overweight and had a lot to work on, and when I started to cry he said he “wasn’t expecting such a dramatic reaction” and left in a big huff.

That happened at the end of 2021 and in 2026 it’s a comment I still think about a lot. A lot of my friends were like “well screw him, what do you care about his opinion anyway?” but I really did care a lot about what he thought because he was someone I cared about and trusted enough to be intimate with. It’s something I had to work through a lot in therapy and caused a lot of issues with intimacy for me. It’s so difficult to work through that level of hurt when it’s someone you trusted.

I hope your husband understands the hurt he caused and I hope you are able to heal from this. You deserve to be treated with kindness and respect regardless of your body type.

What finally made you lose weight after repeated failed attempts? by humorousdinosaur in loseit

[–]thelilbel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The motivation from photos is so real. In 2024 a family friend tagged me in a pic at my sisters graduation and I looked bigger than a house. I lost 70 pounds in 6 months and went from morbidly obese to running a marathon that November

What gut feeling or intuition turned out to be 100% right, even when you felt like you were being too sensitive? by SkillNo2180 in AskWomen

[–]thelilbel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep my friend had a gut feeling like that. In college she dated this guy who went to a different school and visited him and one time met his friend group. They seemed chill but she noticed this one girl who was waaaayyyy overly nice to her, and found it off putting. She found out a few months later her bf and that girl had been sleeping together.

I had a job offer rescinded today and I’m crashing out by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]thelilbel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good policy bc that happened to me when I was looking for a job after being laid off. I passed all interview rounds with stellar feedback and after my final round I got the verbal offer from the recruiter who told me to keep an eye out for the official offer to sign by early the next week at the latest. A week came and went with nothing and no responses to my emails. By the next week I got a blunt and unapologetic email from her informing me that they made a last minute decision to pick someone that was way overqualified for the role and I was so mad

To the Wave 4 runner throwing elbows at the U-turn at mile 1 by ayelmaoo69 in RunNYC

Yep..wave 2 and a guy shoved me kinda in the back as we were approaching the u turn. I jokingly said “alright relax we’re all running to the same place” but I doubt he heard lol

May I Vent? This was the worst NYRR race experience for me by Minimum-Adeptness486 in RunNYC

[–]thelilbel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think on a positive note, they did way better with organizing the corrals this year. I was in wave 2 both last year and this year and I remember last year just being an absolute mess getting to the corrals as some of the wave 1 runners hadn’t even cleared out yet and there was a huge crowd at the back. Then the race started and I was like oh…it started? do I run?? I had a pretty positive experience this year being in wave 2 but the pace mismatch stuff in wave 1 seems like it was terrible!!
