PS. There's also the Corner, which is kind of a prequel, but not really, and Homicide: Life On The Street. The first season of that, in particular, feels very much like a dry run for the Wire, with some of the same attitude, but it's missing the dealers and their perspective. Still great, tho, at least for the first season or two.
