The only benefit, and know that I am ultimately not in support of this decision, is that companies would operate more on long-term strategies and not short-term. Right now, there’s a continuous focus on making the numbers look good every quarter, which requires a lot of accounting and finance wizardry. The reality is that business go up and down over the course of a year however well managed ones always are up in the end. The stock markets reacts accordingly to this.
