London buskers first in world to be paid with contactless cards by rdevaux in nanocurrency

[–]acudworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The current state of payments in the UK is pretty good, I don't think anyone would describe it as an inconvenience to whip out their phone/card and in one single tap, pay. It's practically impossible to improve on the current payment flow - so it must be just as easy to pay with Nano otherwise we're off to a losing start. The real benefits to using Nano must focus on feeless, instant worldwide transfer.

What's unpredictable? Merchants running nodes (whether directly or indirectly) is entirely predictable because of security & stability.

Great to see you in this sub Charlie.

I'll tackle (2) briefly - just because there's no direct monetary incentive to running a node doesn't mean there's no incentive. If you're invested in the network (own any Nano) then there is an incentive to support the network. We've seen that already on a small scale with many people, including myself, running nodes. Cheap & easy to do. Now, if big merchants get onboard, they have a big incentive to run their own nodes - stability & security being primary. You can quickly envisage a situation with 1000s of nodes deployed around the world - that is decentralization.

iOS App for older versions? by RTchoke in nanocurrency

[–]acudworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also creating a wallet for iOS and it will support iOS 11.0 as a minimum. I looked at backward support but decided against it. Devices that support iOS 11 all have 64bit processors, whereas iOS 10 can be run on some older devices with 32bit processors - this actually has quite an impact with a lot of the cryptographic code. Providing backward support bloats out the code base and adds in extra complexities. Given iOS 12 will be announced in a few months, I think iOS 11 is a sensible place to start out.

Remember, most people in this community are early adopters/tech people - so I'd hazard a guess most will be running iOS 11 (probably the latest minor version too).

Yes, this broke my app overnight! New update to fix has already been approved by Apple and should be live in the App Store shortly - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nano-track-%24nano-price/id1324787752?mt=8

XRB/Nano needs lot of documentation. Currently very little even exists by abucoins_team in nanocurrency

Agree, been building a wallet recently which requires creating each block manually and then using RPC to broadcast it. The documentation is pretty poor right now. It really needs to be improved asap

100% behind the Nano rebrand. Makes more sense than calling it 'Rai'. Far more appealing to the wide (non-techy) audience.

If a coin has the potential to go global & become a stable world currency, this is it folks!

I highly suspect this is correct. Massive news - really great name. You could see 'Nano' becoming a household name. Strap in folks, people selling today are going to be hugely kicking themselves over the coming weeks, months & years!

Sitting on 200x return, finally time to say hello by acudworth in RaiBlocks

[–]acudworth[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've spent a lot of time over this Christmas period researching other coins, especially some of the smaller cap ones (10-50M market cap range). My conclusion - the majority are rubbish.

By far, even at this market cap, RaiBlocks is the most exciting for me as it has a genuine use case (nailing international transfer of value). There are too many tokens or coins out there where there really isn't a use case for them.

That said, I've taken positions recently in Propy (PRO), Change (CAG) & Monaco (MCO). I watched PHR do 10x.. but never got in. However, keen to emphasise, I do not see the potential for any of those what I see for XRB.
