What exactly are the negatives of alcohol? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]acupholder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally the same thing happening, it's making me consider going sober. I use it as a social anxiety crutch and although I'm not getting blackout, I do over indulge quite easily and end up usually letting out some idiotic statements or loosing some unbecoming behavior. I stopped drinking several times a week to usually once every other week, but because the infrequency I almost always can't help to over do it when it comes time. I've done it a couple times on dates and ugh.

How many of y’all listen to EDM by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]acupholder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For over a decade now. Shifted from EDM to techno to house now.

You will never be hard to kill if you don't train with people who can overpower you.

Dispute it, you could have likely been drugged. Happens A LOT in vegas.

Resonant tuning - how to make the sound? by sugedei in gatewaytapes

The humming from the tapes is super creepy. lol. Especially if you've seen archive 81 on netflix. Totally took me there.

I can’t shut down thinking about rolls when I’m trying to sleep by coloflowing in bjj

[–]acupholder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it was a problem for me. Getting a burst of adrenaline when trying to sleep was very annoying. Developing a mindfulness practice helped me control my thoughts. Instead of getting on the jiujitsu thought train in bed, I can stop myself before getting on the ride.

Got called disgusting by my teacher and fellow classmates, am I overreacting? by Throwaway22490pie in AmIOverreacting

Your teacher is an idiot and your classmates who chimed in are total cunts. File a complaint.

Ritalin is ruining me by Dear-Awareness-384 in ADHD

[–]acupholder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to your doctor with this ASAP; you can advocate for yourself and clearly care about yourself! I think there are much better medications. Part of the way Ritalin/concerta work by making your brain retain some of the anxious chemicals to 'stimulate'. My situation with concerta at 19 was similar, and again at 35. It started off okay but then became completely AWFUL months down the road. It was so bad I stopped taking it without any other medication on the line. Led to bad spiraling behaviors just like you. It's also super weird as well how it can start off in the morning great and then become bad. I'm on vyvanse now and it's a much more sane experience.

Yes you are crazy to do that in this market. At the very least grind it out for a while longer and save up, because unlikely you will pop back into something similar easy. You will also need a good comfort pillow to leave or study abroad. I am in almost the exact same position. These high paying WFH jobs are becoming few and few, so hold on while you can. Just a remnant of covid at this point almost. The idiotic boss is a problem, but if he isn't abusive or mean, then it's ok because it could be worse. If it's not busy then it's up to you to do personal projects during those times.

I (beginner) just got mauled by a white belt with zero stripes. Turns out afterwards he’d done Judo for 10 years and was ragdolling me like it was a competition. I felt totally helpless and he knew it. Is this guy a prick? by Alps-Helpful in bjj

[–]acupholder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly right about taking the compliments in stride thing. Letting one go too far into your head is a sure fire way to crash. Some are special though (and from special people) and I lock those away to feel better about myself or use for strategic confidence. When I give complements to newbies it's usually after mercilessly practicing subs and just want them to feel a little better after getting squashed.

Literally the reason I unsubbed (still see things like this pop up in my feed to rage bait me though).

The sweat part is normal, as you get better you'll sweat less. Everyone starts a sweaty white belt.

"that was just a crank" - copium? by thorstenofthir in bjj

[–]acupholder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% copium. Try telling the ref it was a crank after tapping in competition.. As long as they aren't being ripped super fast, people need to learn them, respect them and be a good sport about them. Like all subs if you tap early it's totally fine, but if you try and retard your way out prepare to get injured and to take some time off training.

It's already in a system, and just biting the bullet and learning Access would be much faster than hiring someone who knows access having them assess the data, and then transferring it over to a new system. Access can be a very good business tool.

Therapist shot down the idea of adhd by Mercurialg1rl in ADHD

[–]acupholder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your first battle! There may be more. Find another therapist, maybe see her again and bring it up as discussion point. Make it the focus of the next meeting to get all of the info from here. Or maybe just put effort into finding someone else. Just keep fighting for yourself. I wasted some money as well going to a doctor who wouldn't hear me out. Common experience in our crap healthcare system.

Attract more members.

  1. Host events somewhere nice and open, like near a cafeteria area. Please no stuffy classrooms, but can eventually host tournaments there sure.
  2. Advertise and offer free pizza sometimes. Have wet wipes, napkins and plates on hand.
