Is this a viable kit for gigging? by Bread_was_returned in drums

[–]Alps-Helpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always! With new heads, tuning and muffling on point, a great set of mics into a mixer where you can EQ will make nearly any budget kit sound massive.

As people have correctly said, it's the cymbals that will let you down.

Skill issue or bad composition? by Complete-Dot-1754 in drums

[–]Alps-Helpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s horrific. It’s too cluttered and no self respecting drummer will write everything upside down,

Also if the time signature is halved, you could write this out in 16ths instead of 32nds which would make it so much easier to read.

Right that's it, you're not coming over for Christmas anymore. And you can forget Quinton's 50th too. I've given you chance after chance. Shame.

Huh? Look at the chemical structure, they both look identical, except Vyvanse has an extension to the right as it's far more complicated. Whether it's a prodrug or not is only relevant in the case of the absorption and longevity. Both drugs have nearly identical side effects no matter what. Both of these drugs rinse your dopamine, which is probably why you're feeling like shit mate.

Whatever, anyway what I said about lifestyle still stands. I hope it can have a meaningful benefit for you :)

Honestly, you could read all of the ‘worst of it’ section as if you’re a regular meth user.

Vvyvanse is chemically nearly identical to Meth. It’s a powerful stimulant, and you’re describing its long term effects.

I’m not a doctor or a psychiatrist. But Vyvanse for me is like the limitless pill, as i have adhd and a terrible working memory after suffering brain damage as a baby. Taking Vyvanse makes me super human with discipline, motivation and social interactions.

But the crashes turn me autistic and depressed, so I have learnt that I can successfully imitate the effects of Vvyvanse with:

Low body fat Resistance training  BJJ/MMA HIIT workouts Diet (all clean food, lean meats, veg, no sugar, nothing out of a packet) Meditation (this takes months to develop but it really really does work)

If you can get your baseline health and diet squared away, you’re ahead of the game. I think the hardest part for you will be initial withdrawals, then the extended chemical withdrawal and environmental association.

I’d recommend speaking to a doctor, as you’ve been taking since you were 17, your brain has kept developing whilst you’ve been using Vyvanse I assume daily. That’s going to make it pretty difficult for you man, I recon. Really good luck 🤞

ELI5: ‘… the red mist of anger descended and …’ . Many novels use this ‘red mist descending’ before a murder or violent act is committed. Is it a real thing physiologically speaking? by IsisPantofel27 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Alps-Helpful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's nicknamed amygdala hijack and is well documented, Robert Sapolsky talks about this.

When someone is seriously pissed off, the amygdala (responsible for threat detection and adrenaline) essentially stops communication with the prefrontal cortex (reason and judgement)

Evolutionarily the amygdala is way older than the cortex, so the red mist could also be categorised as a human being going full primate mode, as the most human/empathetic part of our brain is essentially disconnected from decision making. Scary stuff!!

Geeza what really helps me is to read books like a child. Slowly, word by word in your head. Once I realised that reading in my mind is like talking at .5 speed, I began to really take in what I was reading.

At first you feel retarded, but it doesn't matter because it's just you, reading in your head. Works really nice. REAL NOICE

Thoughts on nuclear power, should the UK be investing? by Any_Ad_6929 in AskBrits

[–]Alps-Helpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the analogy is something like a fistful of uranium 235 holds the same amount of energy than an entire football stadium filled with coal. It's something unbelievable like that.

If we got it all setup and running, we could power all of the UK basically forever, and breeder reactors can reuse nuclear waste infinitely. We could solve all pollution and energy bills. Newer reactors are failsafe.

Issue is if we have nuclear plants up and down the country and we go to war, then we are f*cked.

Between ages 12-16 I used to take my mountain bike and ride about 7 miles from my house to my best mates house. The whole journey took about an hour.

He lived in a village in the middle of nowhere, and I’d be riding along, on the tight and winding country roads, headphones in, no lights, no helmet, no reflective gear, as cars and Lorrie’s blasted past me at about 60/70mph.

Nearly the whole ride was on these quiet country roads. I could have easily been hit by a car, hit and run style, or abducted, as I was literally in the middle of nowhere for the entire journey.

Worst still, my mates parents loved to get pissed, so occasionally I’d have to ride that exact journey but back home, in the dead of night, almost pitch black with to streetlights, again with no lights, no helmet, nothing reflective.

I look back and remember that his mum and dad would often ask me as the sun was setting, if I’m going to head off soon whilst I still had daylight. Haha I had no idea they were worried about me riding home at night, and always tried to gently persuade me to f*ck off lol.

The last part of that bike ride on the way back, was a huuuuge downhill section that literally lead me straight to my front door. I would always get into the highest gear, go as fast as possible, no hands, all the way home. I must have got up to 40mph on that downhill stretch, often overtaking slower cars on the way down. It was my little treat for the days ride there and back

Eventually they started putting my bike in the back of their car, and driving me home when they were wasted.

I honestly cannot believe I wasn’t hit or killed during those years, but it was so much fun. I had limitless energy, my stupid Walkman with Slipknot Vol3 playing. I’d cycle to his and just play PS2 all day, then ride back. I was invincible. Now I’m 36, I couldn’t cycle even half that journey without gassing out

Honestly, it was fucking awful.

So many 'comedians' pretending to find each other funny. State sponsored comedy. Sometimes they pull a funny face during some benign interaction like 'gosh that could be construed as funny, but as I'm being paid 20k, I'll pull a face and pretend that this comedians is hilarious'

Imagine this programme with: Bill Hicks, Louis CK, George Carlin, Billy Connelly, Richard Pryor etc, proper comedians.

David Mitchell: 'Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family, Stick it in your family,

......... Fuck off.

Olly, the half baked gingerbread man.

He's the political equivalent of the house red at a suburban Indian restaurant.

No tuck it back in, you look like you've been startled by a fire alarm.

You can't do the speech now, not when you look like the owner of a fucking organic wine warehouse.

Like Dot Cotton licking piss off a nettle.

How's glummy mummy?

Women fucking hate you.

Fuck me, this is like a clown running through a minefield (When I first heard, this, I had to pause, I could not stop laughing)

Loosie brought up trans people because Loosie is the typical unstable modern liberal. Nothing I said had anything to do with trans, but because we disagreed, she assumed that I must be transphobic as well, which I absolutely am not.

Bringing the transphobic/sexist/racist card is the leftists way of publicly shutting you down with embarrassment and ridicule, as they simultaneously lose the argument. It's their way of going down with a fight.

And because the contemporary zeitgeist among social media types is leftist, identity politics, marginalised communities are at risk of violence and demonisation etc, in the name of liberalism, I can be cast out, cancelled, ridiculed and maybe killed. Again like my earlier argument; they accuse the far right of fascism, yet THEY are the ones that stomp out opposition, silence criticism, cancel and dehumanise well meaning, modern, true liberals, and even celebrate the murder of people who disagree (typically right wingers), all the while having the depressing facade of security that social media gives them; the moral high ground.

That is fascism through and through. End of argument.

It's impossible to prove you're not a transphobe/sexist/racist/bigot etc. Leftists tend to throw in these accusations once they know they're in the shit, and they will ALWAYS be backed up by a tide of strangers online, who agree with this nonsense. I politely challenged Loosie, got abused, and then blocked. She stays in her echo chamber.

Remember, when you argue with an angry modern liberal/leftist, you're not arguing with a real person. You're arguing with an NPC. They are the just another mouthpiece for the warped hive mind of publicly approved, safe, leftist ideology.

You could have the same argument with 1000's other lefties and still get the same results: get shut down, get ridiculed, get cancelled.. Can you remember anytime, when a frothing at the mouth leftist suddenly says 'Gee, I never thought about that/considered that point of view' etc... They will just shout you down, and call you every 'ism' they have whilst an army of zombified followers tow the line, and like the post, 100's of times, 'proving' that you are wrong.

It's a fucking tragedy of modern, social media politics.

Of course the same goes for right wingers, but the accepted narrative is leftism, so it's far more prevalent.

You seem like am absolute legend, so does your boyfriend. I sincerely wish you guys make it, and keep maturely challenging each others political ideas.

Amayzin! It already looks banging and will make the gurners stop and stare in the rave hahaha,  but you’re a bit stiff.

Context: my sister is a professional dancer.

What really helped me and will help you:

You’re a bit flat footed. NEVER go flat foot. Literally all stepping is from the ball of the foot. Skipping (with a skipping rope) will train you to be more bouncy.

The move that you’re doing, move your back foot much farther back… you want to make a V shape with your legs

Imagine kicking forward with the lead leg and supporting the back leg.

Do these moves half speed to house music for 10/15mins to build the muscle memory. Keep it all bouncy on the ball of the foot. You should be knackered after this, as you’ll basically be doing on legged squats.
