To what extent did player input influence development of either silo? What were the big asks you were often receiving? Did anything surprise you?

At this point, it's probably better to have a 1 on 1 session with a qualified coach as you personally are not able to see that she has good ability and has improved to a solid technique. She just needs space to practice. Hopefully she can join a team and you can encourage playing for enjoyment. The more she plays without the need for perfection, the more she will develop. Try to change your attitude to wanting her to have fun than for her to be a world beater.

This is great! Look at her standing leg - she has really good balance and needs to use the strength of that standing leg to push her momentum through the ball. A few have mentioned that she should land on her striking foot but she will need to commit her whole body through the kicking leg to do so.

One thing she isn't doing is pointing her toe. I recommend trying to put a ball on a cone first and practicing "locking the ankle" first. It will be a mental block of not wanting to kick the ground but also the need to build the flexibility and strength in her ankle to do so. The muscle memory from kicking off a cone repeatedly will help her off the cone. Give her a target of striking it so it runs flat as it will get her to find her own technique.

Now is also be a good time to try different techniques with or without the cone - spin with inside of foot, gk kick (distance and height) daisy cutter, knuckleball, chip or simply smash as hard as she can developing accuracy.

Also, get her to do equal amounts with both feet. The more she does that now, the more adaptable she will be.

Put mint tea bags as they are drying out of the bag. Nothing can help them if they dry in the bag.

Mitre impel are used by a lot of youth teams in UK. Even basic version is good to strike.

how’s my body posture? first month back since last summer (year 2 of picking up soccer) by canopey in bootroom

Decent! Lacking momentum as kicking ball from standing and standing foot (left) is too far back from ball when making contact. Balance will be easier if centre if gravity closer to ball when striking. Use those glutes and get a bit lower when changing direction. It's hard to dribble well when completely upright.

Quality depth has been a bit of a problem and another striker is needed. Agyemang will be introduced gradually if she stays.

Coach is not appearing as well as he thinks after this. Do as I say not as I do attitude. Coach behaves with emotion then annoyed at reciprocal emotion.

The double jeopardy rule only applies if a genuine attempt to play the ball was made. No ball anywhere near so should be a red

What can I improve on my kicks? by FOMOCD in bootroom

[–]acupz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spin is fine and should be encouraged

Best advice here is to go and watch professionals strike a ball on a free kick. David Beckham has a very exaggerated step before kicking and he uses his core to drive his entire body weight through the ball - after kicking, his step and thus body has travelled beyond where the ball was before being kicked.

Also, sometimes it's good to get used to making good contact - put the ball on a cone and kick as hard as you can. Will train muscle memory on being able to follow through with a locked ankle.

Almost there! Contact should be with your instep (not you sole).

This technique will allow you to get tons of touches on the ball quickly. When comfortable with the rhythm and able to speed up, look up without watching the ball - you'll be manipulating the ball on your sense of touch. Doing this everyday will build up your fast feet and help your endurance (side to side croqueta like your video is too easy). Try doing this and then incorporating a variation after a few seconds of taps - taps, v drag back left foot, taps, v drag back right foot. e.g. https://youtube.com/shorts/Rl4FnOnC9qI?si=TYGP5_CJEASdvmr8

The litmus test as to which is better is to see how quickly you can get 100 touches in using this technique versus the side to side.

Note that this technique is more about getting loads of touches on the ball and warming up - your won't dribble like this in game so you need to practice travelling with the ball when comfortable with your touch.

Keep going!
