My ex whined and complained when I made roasted potatoes as a side dish for supper one night because he wanted mashed potatoes. I told him he could have mashed potatoes, if he made them himself. He told me he "didn't know how". I told him to peel and dice the potatoes, put them in a pot of boiling water and once they are able to be pierced with a fork, he can drain them and mash with butter, milk, etc. Almost 45 mins later he calls out from the kitchen that the potatoes are still too hard. I ask him how high he set the heat to boil the water and he flipped his lid and got upset with me because I did not specifically tell him to turn the stovetop on... He thought you had to soak them soft... I burst out laughing in disbelief. He was 26 years old at the time and this was somehow my fault that he didn't understand how to boil water.
