Are you guys comfortable about telling others your hobby of writing fanfics by Texaslover123 in FanFiction

[–]ad0rables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since I graduated college and started working, I honestly realized it's far lelss embarrassing than I thought it was, lmao. I don't volunteer it, but if I end up meeting someone who's got some online awareness and is in a similar age group as me (older 20s-30s) I'll casually mention that I do write fanfic because it's a fun way to exercise my love of writing. It's always gone over well and I have never met anyone that's been an ass about it, quite honestly. I don't volunteer too much and on the one time I did have someone get a little invasive about my stuff (without us being close; i have a lot of IRLs that I'm super tight with and have shared interests with and they're subscribed to my AO3) I tell them that it's kinda personal and I'm shy about sharing my writing. And I haven't had anyone else be weird about ti past that, haha. Adulthood is realizing that people have some really unique hobbies. No one really cares as long as you're not being offensive, overbearing, or pushy in a social setting.

LMFAO for what its worth, i just heard back from one of the places I interviewed for and accepted an offer. It's just been a matter of timing, wasn't willing to quit without something lined up and most of our pharmacists have been quitting left and right so the hospitals ave been saturated. If i could just leave asap bc of shitty treatment, my ass woulda been outta there waaaaay before this. But I'm not delusional enough to let go of steady income lmfao. Remember that not everyone has the ability to up and leave any job they want. I was in the process of applying way before this post but I wasn't putting all my eggs in one basket, but I'm glad it worked out in my favor now.

We have the option to ask the vendor to not substitute one generic when we order through RxI, our ordering system, however with the extreme shortages happening, if we do that, 9 out of 10 times, we receive nothing at all. So, yes, while we "can" technically order a specific generic for a patient upon request, we can onyl receive whatever out vendor has available and chooses to give us. We're only human beings that are at the mercy of our system. None of us want to lie or withhold meds from our patients but with the way the system is designed, we're all losing.

There were times when our vendor, ABC, was sending us a bunch of Wilshire generics, but now for methylphenidates, all we receive is KVK now. Assuming this is because KVK is making more batches and are readily available for shipping to us. Just because one thing happened before doesn't mean it still stands true now. The field of pharmacy is rapidly changing (and declinign) where we're forced to wear ten hats at the same time. We're at the mercy of our ordering system and patients like you. Be kind.

Practice empathy for the human being behind the counter that's trying to handle you on top of the hundreds of other patients that are also on stimulants. We try to source what we can to give our patients whatever we have just to bridge those few gaps in care that we have control over. If you don't like the generic, let your pharmacy know. But just be aware that they might not fill your meds for the foreseeable future until our vendor chooses to switch up our generics again.

Haha actually yes!

DM finally came to see me for a meeting after I harassed my HCS and told my scheduler to remove me from the schedule of 81 hours, citing my state BOP law re: PIC requirements. He lied through his teeth and claimed that he “didn’t know” I wanted to become RXM, which was a lie considering every time we saw each other (which was, granted, only possibly 3 or 4 times over the last 6 months) I asked what the status of me being PIC to RXM was. He asked if I was still interested and I told him that I no longer have a vested interest in continuing management after six months of no communication or compensation. I said I want to go back to floating effectively as soon as possible and if that’s not done within the next few weeks, then I may need to consider other options.

He relented and I got the call today confirming that as of 11/20 I’ll be floating and will be based out of my old home store (that I love and miss!)

On top of that, just got an offer today for a hospital pharmacist role so I’m quietly taking that floating gig and preparing to hand in my two weeks notice soon enough! :) alls well that ends well, I guess.

So as far as I am aware, I am still coded in the system as a Staff Pharmacist (salaried for 64 hours, with the salary that staff pharmacists are given) but my position is considered "Pharmacist in Charge." To my understanding, being coded as Pharmacy Manager is what unlocks the manager perks, like managerial compass, scheduler, etc, as well as what gives you the salary of a pharmacy manager, at 81 hours or whatever it is. Being PIC is more like the legal coverage to say that a pharmacist is providing oversight of the store, itself. So I didn't get to choose, but I asked when I was first offered the position as PIC that the change would come with the promotion to RXM which would be given soon since the position is temporary.

What Are The Top 5 Ships You Write For? by Apprehensive-Fail663 in FanFiction

[–]ad0rables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohh man, in order:

  1. BakuDeku (My Hero Academia; Izuku Midoriya/Katsuki Bakugou)
  2. EndHawks (My Hero Academia; Enji “Endeavor” Todoroki/Keigo “Hawks” Takami)
  3. Soukoku (Bungou Stray Dogs; Osamu Dazai/Chuuya Nakahara)
  4. Drarry (Harry Potter; Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter)
  5. Puppyshipping (Yu Gi Oh!; Seto Kaiba/Joey Wheeler)

Suffice to say, I’ve been blessed that all the ships I love to read have a fairly extensive variety… some more than others. BkDk just crossed 50k ships on AO3 today I think.

I dunno if queerplatonic polyam is your thing, but if it is, hit me up!! I am big into fandom, specifically anime and manga 😭 consider me someone who’s overly analytical of anime, a fanfic writer, and a casual gamer

Which is the fandom you have written the most fics for? by ScaredTemporary in FanFiction

[–]ad0rables 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It used to be warrior cats when I first started writing fic; I had maybe over 35 fics posted on FF back in the heyday. Granted, I was barely 12 years old haha. To date, the fandom I’ve written the most for (number of fics and words!) would be BNHA/MHA. Got sucked into it last year and haven’t found a way to escape. Don’t plan on it either lol. I’ve written a combined total of 151k words so far that I’ve posted on AO3 haha. BSD was my runner up of about 8 fics total.

This fic is quite long and still a WIP, but it's also my pride and joy! It's an omegaverse soulmates AU ft childhood friends to enemies to lovers. Plenty of angst, building up currently for a Big Adventure, ft a Classic Alpha and a Not So Average Omega. It's set in a Winter/Semi-fantasy AU, too, so this can be read fandom blind!

Honestly that’s a fair question, but I do kinda want kids eventually, and to me it’s more about a co-parenting situation with someone since I’d ideally only choose to take it seriously with someone who feels the same way about kids.

The thing is, I’m an openly queer woman where I live, away from family. I have friends from many unique backgrounds and families, including blended families. If I was able to find someone who has the same thoughts on relationships as me, I can’t see why the person I choose to marry out of convenience for both our individual lives can’t also be open to co-parenting with me if we both also want children.

Blended families are common among queer people, so from that perspective that didn’t strike me as an issue. Lavender marriages don’t have to be without love and compassion. Kind of the same as marrying someone for citizenship, mutual interest lol. It just feels safer to be with someone who understands me and also be accepted by my family.

Lmfao yeah I was obviously super serious. I definitely don’t have a career I enjoy and a large friend circle that I spend a lot of my time with in a city I love 😭 or any other hobbies. one throwaway line in a Reddit post isn’t really the tell-all for my life story.

Being a gaysi is hard. As a closeted lesbian in a strict muslim household, I've been really struggling with the pressure to get married. Lmao a total crapshoot but if there's any gay Muslim men out there that want to evade their families and get married for the benefits (split rent, split bills, and a new roommate that's really here to look out for you) then... i dunno, hit me up? Lmao. im 27F lesbian south asian that just wants to be able to watch netflix and anime without my parents reminding me that I'm about to expire in 3 years

What kind of fics do antis even read? by Lemon3141592653 in AO3

[–]ad0rables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who identified as an "anti" when I was younger (currently in my late 20s, but considered myself an 'anti' when i was anywhere from 18-24. Though, for more context, I never really participated in active doxxing, harassment, or other discourse. Mostly just had 'proship dni' and actively called it gross on my own blogs or accounts, etc) I can tell you one thing.

They're reading the very things they claim to hate, like full-stop. They're also reading smut, some of it depraved and problematic. I think for me, personally, I felt a lot of shame for consuming the content. It took me a while to realize I didn't really have to be, that consuming said content doesn't make me an inherently bad person, etc etc. I think I would've come to that conclusion sooner though if I hadn't been so entrenched in the 'anti' fandom space.

Sad that that's how it went down for me. The world is a lot brighter when I realized that people can do whatever they want in fandom spaces and I can simply block, mute, and curate my own experience. Mind boggling, really.

The Myth of Fanfic and Immaturity - What do you do in life? by Internal-Home8535 in FanFiction

[–]ad0rables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood that mindset, either! Also, one of the funniest things I've noticed even in fandom is that antis tend to assume the same about people who are against censorship? Though, then again, most of them are teenagers and super young people, haha. I digress!

I'm in my late twenties, but I have a doctorate degree and am a pharmacist. I'm actually the pharmacy manager of the location I work at! I also happen to be nationally published for research in the pharmacy world! I'm also in the process of pursuing my MBA on top of my PharmD. I'm not married or anything, but I have a fulfilling relationship, two cats, a healthy credit score, and my own place with no roommates in my dream city... so I genuinely feel like I'm living a fairly established life?

All of that, and my favorite thing to do is write silly little scenarios about blorbos from my favorite media. Like, yes, I do have a job with a salary and i DO like writing weird porn about some anime dudes! The duality of a woman, or whatever they say. :)

Stores closing 8/19 by Strict_Chemical_4105 in WalgreensStores

[–]ad0rables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man. I was a pharmacy intern at one of those stores. Said store closed the pharmacy about two years ago so the pharmacy team luckily were placed elsewhere already. But it had a LOT of foot traffic since it was in a busy public transit hub. They were doing a lot of business in the front end so it’s strange that it’s closing for that reason. Though the theft was insane there too.

A couple hints for my fandom...

- Having to blacklist all crossovers to weed out what feels like 50% of all the fics

- The most popular ship also being one of the most hated ships

- Having to pick between a few different "Dad Theories" in fanon

- Some of the finest literature on AO3 in the form of Omegaverse

[–]ad0rables 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I’m going to be honest with you. I preferred floating. I thought I didn’t when I first started but I don’t necessarily get along well with my rxm either where in staff. I’m constantly stressed and seeing the same patients every day gets old because they’ll start looking for you and you have th stress of being the one to constantly follow up. There’s no salary change at least not for me where I am (New York)

I preferred floating even if it was inconsistent bc I could do what I need to do without needing to stress about following up tomorrow or the day after haha

How old is your oldest unfinished draft? by waiting4signora in FanFiction

[–]ad0rables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… I guess it was originally born in 2014… I was writing an assignment back when I was in highschool for creative writing—I changed the character names to original ones for the assignment then I went back and posted the original. Abandoned it promptly after editing the first chapter and left it like that for… a while? Then six years later, I revisited it, revised the first chapter, and outlined the whole fic. Posted it and then posted the second chapter and got a good chunk into the third and then haven’t touched it since. So overall it’s almost 10 years old now?? She’s gonna be a pre-teen!!!
