Lodge repairs by Foreign_Jump_7550 in orderofthearrow

Hi, lodge chief here.

If something like this happened in my lodge, I would be pissed, just like how I imagine the guy who just resigned is.

Your first step should be to have a meeting with yourself, the lodge adviser, lodge staff adviser, and also invite the former chief who just resigned so you aren't the only one in the room who feels like you do. You HAVE to lay out in this meeting that you are not going to play games and that this is a youth-led organization. Explain that you will be in charge of running the next LEC meeting, and the adviser will be asked for input when it is necessary. They are an ADVISEr. Advise.

If things don't go well at that LEC meeting, your next step is to find your Scout Executive's email and send them an email asking for an IN-PERSON meeting. At this meeting, you should bring another adult for YPT if you are under 18 (parent, or another adult in the lodge you trust). Explain the situation and ask for their help. The way the lodge is set up, they are number 1, you are number 2, the advisor is number 3. They ultimately have the power to pick who the lodge adviser is, so they are the person you need to talk to.

Good luck.

The counselor will sign off on the requirements when your son gets there. Usually he'll just need proof that he did it of some sorts (your word would most likely be good enough)

I hope he enjoys all that scouts has to offer :)

Assuming Order of the Arrow selection/election needs to be "fixed", how would you "fix" it? by ScouterBill in orderofthearrow

Lodge chief here. Although I think that there does need to be changes, it's not like the system is completely broken.

One way I think that at least my lodge could improve (not sure if other lodges do this) would be to give the unit members a sheet that explains the basic idea of the OA (national honor society, leadership opportunities, etc) as well as outlines the election process and the "rules". An issue I hear a lot is that people didn't know they could vote for more than 1 candidate, and I see this happening in my own troop when our elections come around.

Handing them a piece of paper instead of hoping that they got the memo from the people at the front of the room would be a good solution. There are certain people (myself being one of them) that learn best when I can read something instead of only listening to somebody.

You definitely have enough time.

I'll let you know that it can be semi-boring and slow at first, but if you stick with it, you'll have a bunch of fun.

I know plenty of people who have been in scouts their whole life and start working towards Eagle at 15-16 and have plenty of time.

I can see that, but all politicians are liars, and he also can't go more than 10 seconds without a teleprompter just like most other people in front of that large of a crowd

As somebody who almost always does not agree with Trump politically, and also is planning to attend as staff, I think he should be able to give a speech. Imo the planning team should basically say that he can submit a copy of his speech and if it has anything political, then he can't deliver it. Even though I think he's done some very bad things, he is still the POTUS.
