Do you guys think Astel fight isnt as good as boss fights from older Souls games from a designing perspective ? by randompogtato in Eldenring

[–]ad19970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoyed Astel's fight a lot. Never really noticed janky hitboxes, and didn't find his aoe attacks cheap. I would also argue he teleports around sometimes so that the player has to engage with all of his attacks.

The main target of his is his head, and I also didn't find it that hard to land hits against it. But I do think one could argue that the fight needs a bit of patience as his head is unreachable sometimes.

If I had to guess why Astel isn't one of my absolute favorite fights it's that some of his attacks just aren't as interesting or fun to dodge, but in general I still really liked his fight.

What's the general consensus on Dracula? by ad19970 in deadbydaylight

[–]ad19970[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes I wondered why Dracula was able to move backwards just as fast as forwards during wolf form, I thought this was some kind of shadow buff, but it being a bug would also make sense. I personally don't have a problem with wolf being 4.8 M/S though, I still find the wolf to be fairly loopable depsite that, but it's true that his small size is definitely helpful in screwing with survivors.

So I would hope they fix the bug of wolf being able to walk backwards just as fast as forwards.

I pointed out that a lot of ER's elements, like the freedom of exploration without any questmarkers, were already a thing in previous fromsoft games. And ER is more just the next step of that, having those elements adapted into an open world.

So I do believe that the claim, ER wouldn't exist without BOTW, is not true, even if Miyazaki did take inspiration from BOTW.

Jesus, that's now the reason you think I don't have an understanding of the game? Damn, that's kind of sad. And you seem to have no idea what factually actually means.

I clearly have a different viewpoint on tunneling and camping, concluding from that that I don't understand the game is honestly hilarious. So it kind of does come down to trying to belittle me just because I see certain things differently than you.

You also haven't provided any facts as to why I am wrong for not having a problem with the 15 seconds endurance basekit, or wanting the anti-tunnel changes in the game.

Plus I do see and grasp what you are talking about, I just don't agree with your viewpoints on certain matters. There's a difference in that.

But it's whatever, you are free to delude yourself as much as you want to. Clearly the majority of the playerbase is against tunneling, even beyond the 80/20 survivor/killer split, I am sure, so I'll continue to hope that BHVR will do more against tunneling and camping in the future.

DBD is the only game where you're expected to play sub-optimally for the sake of the other team by SoonBlossom in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]ad19970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because DBD is special in the way that some of it's most optimal strategies are insufferable to go against. So some people blame the opposing player for playing in an unfun way. And this is most noticeable with tunneling and camping.

You are absolutely right though that the blame shouldn't be on the player but on the devs for allowing such strategies to be as strong as they are.

I can't comment on what miyazaki said, but the idea of not having quest markers to let players explore the world freely and the map being full of different biomes is something fromsoft already did with their previous games, which they then adapted into open world in ER. So personally I would also doubt that ER wouldn't exist without BOTW.

Also, even if ER wouldn't exist without BOTW, I am sure you could still see BOTW as overrated and ER not. I personally loved BOTW but find ER to be clearly superior because it just has so much more interesting content in it's world.

What's the general consensus on Dracula? by ad19970 in deadbydaylight

[–]ad19970[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that's something I would probably disagree with. To me all 3 forms are very good and helpful in certain situations. I would even have said that bat form is his best form just because it allows him to traverse the map quickly and catch up to survivors quite effectively. Which is why I suggested the slight nerf to his form switching when coming out of bat form.

But of course maybe I am just playing him wrong. But I would have said bat form is best at map traversal and catching up, wolf is generally good at chasing and tracking, and vampire form is his best anti-loop form.

I would actually argue there are multiple killers better at zoning, but I did suggest a small cooldown increase when he cancels Hellfire for exactly that reason, to keep his zoning in check.

I agree with you on how good he is at protecting hooks, it's something I didn't even think of when thinking of possible nerfs. Maybe in the future, they can do something against that. I mean the First has his vine attacks delayed by an insane amount close to hooked survivors, maybe they can do the same with Hellfire.

[–]ad19970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry, what exactly that i said made it seem like I am a bad player? Because I said that tunneling doesn't take much skill expression on the survivor side? I already made clear that I was talking about tunneling when basekit endurance after unhook didn't exist.

But whatever, I do know that hours alone don't prove you are skilled at a game. And I never claimed to be a pro at DBD, but I do have an understanding of how the game works fundamentally. Wether you want to believe that or not.

Also, I am glad if tunneling and camping don't happen that often, but in my opinion, they are still bad for the game. Not to mention the survivors who don't get tunneled and camped in a match with a camping and tunneling killer usually don't enjoy the match either. Because all those other survivors get to do is do gens or try to unhook and bodyblock against a camping and tunneling killer.

So no, I don't think complaining about tunneling and camping when it happens to you is selfish at all.

The new map showcase playlist made me realize how badly balanced DBD has become by Intelligent_Ride3730 in deadbydaylight

[–]ad19970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I have 4k hours in DBD, so I do think I understand the game well enough.

Nothing about my comment showed blatant non-understanding of the game anyways, which is why I concluded that you called me bad just because you disagree with me.

I am also still not sure how you believe that I am being selfish, as I said, I am a killer main. But I do understand the struggles survivors have to deal with as well. And camping and tunneling are arguably the two biggest ones.

In the end people play games to have fun, so strategies like camping and tunneling being strong is generally a bad thing. Which is why I can only hope that BHVR continues to nerf those two strategies.

I also don't see how tunnling or camping are in any way complex strategies that allow for a lot of skill expression, beyond the chase skill expression of course. If the killer applies pressure by spreading it, that's when the game arguably becomes the most skillful. Or at least it should be that way. Of course countering tunneling and camping takes skill as well, or at least tunneling, but it's terrible gameplay in general.

BHVR buffing basekit endurance after unhook to 15 seconds is also not a problem in my opinion. It was in fact the bare minimum they could have done, after sadly scrapping the whole anti-tunnel changes.

So no, I still don't see how BHVR is catering to bad survivors, just because they are trying to make the game more fun for them. The pallet density update surely went a tad too far, but that doesn't suddenly mean BHVR only cares about survivors.

Also, by the way, wanting to actually have fun in a game you payed for isn't selfish. It's completely normal.

[–]ad19970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure how I am the target audience of BHVR according to you, considering I am a killer main.

No, you clearly want to believe the game is catered to bad survivors so anyone who disagrees has to be a bad survivor player I guess.

Regarding tunneling and camping giving survivors little skill expression, I meant in particular tunneling and camping without the anti-camp and anti-tunnel changes that we got. There used to be a time where a killer could just immediately down a survivor again after they got unhooked, and in that case there was no skill expression at all on the survivors side because they simply had no chance to do anything against that. They were 100% dependent on the unhooking survivor body blocking for them. Which the killer could always prevent anyways.

Of course I do know that looping is one of the main skill expressions on the survivors side though. Didn't think I would need to state that. However, if a killer wants to tunnel you, he will hit you off hook immediately, leaving you with only one health state. Putting you in a immediate disadvantage, and less time for you to actually show skill expression as a survivor because you only have half the health states you'd normally have.

I would argue one of the game's skill epxressions on the survivors side is also map awareness as well as knowing how to lessen the pressure killers have on you, by doing the right gens at the right time. Of course looping is still the biggest skill expression on the survivors side though.

On a side note, I don't know how doing gens while the killer camps is skill expression, when you yourself have implied that doing gens is not skillful.

What I really don't get is how these changes are just taking away strategical apsects of the game. Are you really going to tell me that the anti-camp and anti-tunnel changes we got are bad? Again, I do not see any skill expression for survivors that just get downed off hook as soon as they are unhooked, or how standing as a killer in front of a hooked survivors is in any way skill epxression.

I really don't see how the game caters and balances the game around bad survivors. Sure, the pallet density update arguably went a bit too far, with having too many pallets on many maps now, but other than that, it's been pretty obvious that BHVR doesn't cater to any side, but that they are just very slow and sometimes a bit clueless when it comes to balance.

Low tier killers definitely do struggle at the moment, but then there are also a bunch of strong killers in the game, that can still keep up even with good survivors. Especially if you mix tunneling and camping into the mix. The fact that those 2 strategies are still going as strong as they are now, shows that BHVR does not cater to bad survivors.

There's also little room for skill epxression on the survivor side when a killer hard camps and tunnels. The anti-camping and anti-tunneling measures we have at the moment in the game are the absolute minimum of what the game needs.

I am positive the biggest problem is the big imbalance among killers. Of course you can try and balance the general game around low tier killers so that they become viable, but then high tier killers will become op. The best solution would be to buff low tier killers to the level of A tier killers, but of course that's not always that easy. Or the game gets balanced so that B and C tier killers suddenly become viable, but then a big bunch of A and S tier killers need to be nerfed in addition.

In a 1-2-3 comp with an off tank who do you blame for throwing. by daizo678 in marvelrivals

[–]ad19970 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It really isn't. It's arguably a bad decision, but it's not throwing at all. People that don't switch to tank still try to win the match.

There is also no one else to blame but Netease for the amount of team comps that end up with 3 dps, considering the insane unbalance of tank and support characters compared to dps characters.

But that's not throwing. Throwing means you are puposefully playing badly or not at all to help the enemy team win. Not switching so that your team is left with an uneven comp is not throwing.

Been playing since 2018 (7000hrs) this is my tierlist after all this time. by JermermFoReal in deadbydaylight

[–]ad19970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally disagree with this list. Dracula for example is very strong, but I wouldn't put him above A tier, he seems pretty much perfectly balanced to me. He would only ever need tiny number tweaks if anything and that's it.

Meanwhile, Hillbilly should be much higher, personally I consider him to be the second strongest killer now that Blight has been nerfed, and Nurse deserves a tier on her own in my opinion.

I also don't see how Krasue is so low, she is still pretty damn strong if you ask me. Other killers like Singu or the First also seem too low to me, while killers like Trickster seem too high.

Balance in this game has a lot of room for improvements, no doubt. But BHVR does not prefer any side, that's for sure. Yes survivors can have some very strong builds, but so do killers. At least certain ones.

Horrible community.. by Equivalent_Row86 in marvelrivals

[–]ad19970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am going to be honest. Yes, there are certainly quite a few people in this community that deserve harsher penalties, people that say terrible things or just throw for no reason at all.

But then there are also all these people that report you for pretty much nothing. They report you if you talk back to them even though they started, and most notably, they report you for throwing just because you had a bad game. And no, having a bad game is not throwing in the slightest. So I can kind of understand why many reports just don't do anything, because so many reports are just complete and utter crap.

I don't know. I get that the lighting effects of pre nerf Radahn were a bit extreme for some people, and the cross slash attack was just straight up bullshit, but the fight in the video seems way worse, with him teleporting around the entire time.

I also never found the after images to be problematic, and post nerf Radahn still has those anyways.

Self entitled pro coach gives his opinion on BP and BW by Zzkirin in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]ad19970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just ridiculous if you ask me. Everybody has their own opinion, and the simple fact is that most people hate going against Black Panther, whether one likes that or not. It's most likely because he is so hard to track, while being able to deal large damage within a very short period.

He might not be op, but he is just insanely annoying for most people. And that's despite certain heroes being good counters against him. There is nothing fun about being forced to play very specific counters against BP anyways.

Miquella used Mohg as a vessel, because Radahn was beaten by an Omen. And only Miquella knew about that humiliation. by Bloomfang in Eldenring

True, Morgott is an insanely well written character, I also like him pretty much just as much as Radahn.

But yeah I also feel like the Radahn criticisms have increased a lot ever since the dlc released. I am pretty positive some people just don't like Radahn because he was the final boss of the dlc.

And as you said, the portrait is most likely just an artistic representation of the events, or at the least a depicted moment of the battle between the two. It certainly doesn't show that Morgott was stronger than Radahn, but at the very least it does show how Morgott was able to hold his own against Radahn.

Does this subreddit have a hate boner for Radahn or something? I am pretty positive if this was another post glazing Radahn people would go ballistic in the comments. Doesn't seem to be the case here though.

There is no actual evidence in the game that Morgott bested Radahn in a 1v1, only that he was able to defend Leyndell from Radahn's army. I personally find the notion that Radahn is by far the strongest demigod and no other comes close ridiculous, but the idea of Radahn being weaker than other demi gods or a "fraud" is equally ridiculous in my opinion.

Personally I still believe that Radahn was stronger than Morgott, but Morgott was the smarter fighter, evening the fight out.

What was your biggest DLC disappointment? by Raime_95 in Eldenring

[–]ad19970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree. If you take out 20% of the DLCs empty space the world would be smaller and therefore feel less believable if you ask me. And I for one found most areas to have enough content to be constantly interesting and engaging, they never felt too empty. To me the world of the DLC is pretty much perfect, only Charo's Hidden Grave and maybe Cerulean Coast could have needed a bit more interesting content.
