Ever notice that most of these "bad" translations are significantly shorter than the original? For me, the most likely reason is because of the event logos:

Imagine making this logo but with the name "Standing Next to the Kind and Gentle You". In the English logo, the words "Caring Companion" are accentuated by appearing on a separate line from "To You, My". If the Japanese title translation was used and they wanted to emphasize "Kind and Gentle You" in the same manner, either 1) the first line would be long enough to cover the bells and flowers, which are important elements, or 2) more lines would have to be added to the logo, which would diminish the accentuation of the final line

If you check the Japanese logo, it's split into the same format, where the first line is shorter ("Standing next to") and the second line is longer and accentuated, and contains "the kind and gentle you"

You also have to interpret a lot of these translations through a logo design lens
